FridayFix™: Tentacles, Tentacles & More Tentacles

FridayFix Christmas Art

‘Twas the night before Dragon*Con, and all through the con, people were sleeping, dreaming dreams of Han. Well, no, actually, it was during Dragon*Con, and no one sleeps there. There were more than a few Han Solos, though.

At Dragon*Con 2010, Scott read his first monster story. “First,” as in, written for his fourth-grade class project. Several Junkies recorded this on their cell phones. We put the video together so we could give y’all a little FridayFix Christmas present. Enjoy!

I’m afraid the sequel to TENTACLES, TENTACLES & MORE TENTACLES will have to wait until after I finish MOUNT FITZROY (also known as EARTHCORE II). ETA? Don’t even ask, man.

    I Got Grabded

Dude, I totally look up and got grabded by this story.  It was excellent.  Even in 4th grade you had a great sense for suspenseful scene enders.

    Great Entertainment Scott!

Finally got the chance to watch “Tentacles.” What fun! Thanks for giving us a peek at the early mind of the future FDO. Great illustrations too!

    But the important question is…..

did you get an A on the paper????  That was awesome Scott no matter what grade you received.

    not bad for fourth grade

You remind me of my own 4th grade story.  They said I was good with dialog. Sometimes I wonder if I should try the writing thing, but it seems like an awful lot of training and work. heh.

Coming from someone who was in that crowd that day, this was FANTASTIC. I’m in a couple of these angles too, haha. Sadly the angle i recorded and sent in didn’t make the cut, but i absolutely love this.

    A tentacle killed my mother

Luckily, I didn’t witness the trauma because it happened before I was born.

    My First Nøvel™!

Sweet. My own first novel was in the 7th grade, “The Life and Times of Bernard Basketball,” was written in cursive (for which I was marked down) and bound in a piece of linoleum floor tile.

    Let’s do it in 2011!

Don’t tell ARealGirl, John. We should take all of my childhood and high-school stories and put them in a special hardcover volume. It would take like 15 minutes!

Where does this fit into the continuity?

I’m guessing it’s somewhere between Earthcore and Infected. But then again, the military structure is reminiscent of the battle of 1812, so maybe pre-Kissyman?

I’m so glad I listened to this story AFTER I got back from my cruise in the Pacafac!

I guess the “Tentacles” are the ones floating on the one side, the “tentacles” are the ones hanging on the other side,  and the “more tentacles” are the ones that grabbded the divers at the end of the story.

Nice work! I especially like the DØM self-published binding. Will we see a retro-style hardcover for a future DØM release?
