I wish I had heard this podcast earlier. My niece and I met you on Saturday at Readcon. I absolutely would have brought you jello made by a Mormon.

So way back in the day I graduated from college moved to Toledo for a consulting job. Of course the job said most of our work is within 20 minutes of Toledo. My job was 3.5 hours away in Kalamazoo, MI. That was a long drive there and back every week.

One random weekend while I was actually in Toledo and enjoying my really nice apartment that I never stayed at I picked up the Toledo Blade newspaper. Rarely did I pick up the paper, but for some reason I just decided to pick it up. I glanced through most of the stories and I came across one that talked about an author that was podcasting his stories for free. So I downloaded all the episodes for Earthcore (that whole story was podcast already and I think you were half way though infected [or infection, or whatever it was called at the time before you had to change it] while stealing my neighbors wi-fi (back before people put passwords on their wi-fi).

It made my weekly drive fly by listening to the podcast, and it was great because I had the whole book to listen to. I think I got through the whole book in a week or two (I decided to listen when I wasn’t driving). Then I caught up through the next book, and then I found out what you meant by a serialized podcast. I was halfway through infected and there were no more episodes. That sucked, I now had to wait for a new episode.

I think at the time you had a faulty calendar because your weekly podcasts seemed to come out on a monthly basis. But I stuck with it. And it sucked waiting. I even strayed for a while and listen to 7th Son by he who shall not be named for a while.

But that was in the past. And to remind me of the dark days and how things once were, I pre-order the book and when it comes I put it on the shelf. I then slowly week after week listen to the podcasts. And while I do that I try and keep hope that eventually Earthcore and mt. will be redone and come out again. So with that being said….Get you ass back to writing and hurry up with Earthcore and Mt. Fitzroy.

Wow, thank you Scott and A for everything! EARTHCORE was the first podcast (that wasn’t just talk-e-talk) I ever downloaded.

Holy Frelling Crap! Earthcore!! Yaaaaahhh!!! *passes out from excitement*

I need to own this book and be able to put it on my shelf. Not want. Need. Earthcore was the first thing of yours I listened to (back in June 2008), and still one of my favorites. I’m more than patient for Mt. Fitzroy, but hearing that Earthcore is finally being revamped literally made me shout in joy. I don’t have anything to read ebooks on besides my laptop, but I still might buy this just to hold me over until the print version is rereleased (24 month period, I think you said?).

Its not something to talk about in a later episode, but am I allowed to call in and shout my excitement at your answering machine?

Is there a way to pre-order ALIVE and get Scott to sign it? Used to do this from Borderlands. Any new place to do this from? I want to get the book, but want to have it match all the others that are signed.. 🙂
