Love many of them: Blackadder, Monty Python (of course), Mr. Bean, Benny Hill (I’m old school), Are You Being Served? (so-so), Fawlty Towers, Absolutely Fabulous (love Joanna Lumley), The Young Ones, and Spaced (Simon Pegg… yeah!)

Blackadder: “A man may fight for many things. His country, his friends, his principles, the glistening ear on the cheek of a golden child. But personally, I’d mud-wrestle my own mother for a ton of cash, an amusing clock and a sack of French porn.”

-Sci-FiGeek Version 2.0 – Bigger, better, stronger… and with improved green goo!

It was one of my all-time favourite shows as a kid (and still is – I bought the DVDs a while back and got my own kids hooked).

BUT…my middle name is Vivienne, so I got teased MERCILESSLY at school! Every time The Young Ones screened on TV, kids would re-enact entire episodes at me (yes, AT me), yelling “Vyvyannnnnnn” in Neil’s voice and trying to get me to smash walls and doors with my head, just for laughs. Pretty funny the first time. After an entire series, not so much. I still cringe when I hear it, twenty years later!

You guys really need to check this sit-com out, Vyvyan Bastard played by Adrian Edmondson was the greatest characters from 80’s TV with the best put downs like “bogie bum” or “bum bag” and he kicked the shit out of all the other characters.

I’m gonna stir your brain like Skippy peanut butter!!!

Yer you should defently watch it when you get chances, its really good. I dont think preists have ever been seen in that light before, and crimbo special is a classic

Another in the many series’ that I need to add to the Netflix queue. Thanks for the reminder.

This may be obvious, but I love the original Office, Ricky’s David Brent is the ultimate douche. I could never get into the one here in the States. Also ,I’ve heard that the show Father Ted is great. I haven’t seen it yet. I’ve been meaning to. Any opinions?

It’s sheer coincidence. Just like the copy of the Red Dwarf book I bought him several years ago that has been sitting on my bookshelf, well, the past several years!

There was a list of things where, when it happened, you had to drink. Practically guaranteed you’d be plastered within five minutes of the start of any episode!

A life vacant of laughter is not worth exerting the effort it takes to live it.

I have just put the 1st 6 series on my ipod, havnt watched it in so long but i have loved it ever sinces i was a kid

And they had an entire booth that sold nothing but Red Dwarf crap. DVDs, statues, photos, books. It was an insane amount of Red dwarf crap.

I still use the swear, “SMEEEEEGHEEEEEED” but no one knows what I’m talking about.

BigJohn: Badass enough to get the drop on Kissyman

I bought the entire series on DVD for my dad for a Christmas present and it has yet to leave my house! Tongue out

Check out Black Books (I don’t think it’s been mentioned already). It didn’t run long (2 seasons) but it’s hilarious…I was hooked from the pilot.

I can watch the later episodes of My family but i think the early ones with Kris Marshall as Nick are much better then the later ones.

Check out Last of the Summer Wine. It is the longest running comedy and the old episodes with Foggy are excellent. There are quite a few available on Youtube for those of that live in non-english speaking countries.

A couple of old classic British sitcoms are Yes Minister and Dad’s Army. Both are great shows with proper humour. Not like a lot of today’s sitcoms which seem to be totally covered in sexual innuendo.

If you want good good sitcoms try and see blackadder 2,3and4 by the way I love American cartoons especialy southpark

just started as a series on E4.  They have it on the E4 player but not sure if you can get access to that in the states

I don’t know if it translates well but I find it funny. worth a look if you want an irreverent super hero series

You have no idea the shame I carry on a daily basis.

the trick to staying sane is to just out-crazy the world

"Who is Number One?", "You, are Number Six!", "I am not a number, I am a free man!"

for getting me hooked on the show Footballer’s Wives for a few seasons.

    Yeah.  I said it.

But the inbetweeners is very funny (particularly for teenage boys that haven’t grown up yet) Don’t know how it would translate for you guys but i heartily recommend it Laughing

Plus, real life itself is a cartoon! Just look at Kill Bill.

MC; CA; UNdead Jester and Love Slave of the UNdead Grave Mother

…the 1st season finale on BBC America recently was amazing!!  Just sayin’….

But its a good show compared to most american tv and I just wanted to throw it out there.

Teachers is mint all about well teachers, that kinda act more like kids than the kids most of the times. Or spaced, one of the 1st things simion pegg did, proberly still one of the best thing he has ever done

My Family is epic! Longest running family sitcom ever!

Voltaire – I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

Hate to say this, but Top Gear isn’t a sitcom. It stands for situation comedy, and a sort of news show about cars isn’t a situation

Voltaire – I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

     Another great sitcom!

I watch it every monday on BBC America.

    “The IT Crowd”!

Haven’t watched many sitcoms from the UK. The only ones I’ve seen are My Family, My Hero (I think that’s what it was called. The one where the guy is from another planet?), and Keeping Up Appearances. As for the American cartoons, it’s all about Family Guy. Lol.

Red Dwarf is in fact hilarious. My Family is not. Anything with anyone from Monty Python, such as Fawlty Towers is fantastic. Or Farty Towels if you prefer

Captain Picard: Mister Crusher SHUT UP! Doctor, get this child off my bridge.

Mal: Well lady, I must say…(smiles)…you’re my kinda stupid

whats wrong with cartoons they rule

Im a  friend of death, a brother of luck and a son of a bitch!

As everbody in the UK knows that My Family is in fact shite!

    Neil laughed. "I’m a soldier, not a cop, ma’am."

cultural jokes don’t always cross over well. just because we share the same language, we don’t share the same culture or politics.

I AM not just junkie, I AM a pusher man & I AM Sadocks Tangent Brother.

What’s with all the american cartoons?

Here in England, we enjoy the finer things in life.

    Such as:

My Family, Love Soup, Red Dwarf, Skins

    Better than american dad anyday!
