One of my big problems with TV is variety
Or lack thereof.
I lived without TV for years. And yet every time I go visit my parents house the exact same things are on TV. They pay too much per month (I'm not really sure how much, but being Time Warner Cable I'm pretty sure it's not cheap) for 'x' number of channels and there is never anything on that I haven't seen a million times before. One thing I love about Netflix is being able to watch a wide variety of TV/Movies whenever you feel like it - something cable doesn't seem to offer.
We do now have TV at home, I caved, and it seems to only show Nickelodeon and Disney. All right, well that's all that gets watched on it anyway. 8 months of having Verizon in the house and I've never watched more than two SU basketball games and the Superbowl. But, that's what I really got for in the end - my daughter. And my dad since he takes care of her while I watch. As long as Maeve doesn't get past the hour a day she's allowed I'm okay with the expense. I don't think you should be too concerned about what other people think of you, but I do understand wanting to fit in. And I know all too soon we'll get those "Go home and watch..." assignments from school.
