I'd say that cliche has a grain of truth to it:

Lacking any concern over financial matters greatly reduces the stress on an individual, thereby increasing the likelihood that they'll find a way to live happily.

Unfortunately, most people have become dragons attempting to hoard all of the fiscal assets they can. Money is a tool, not a God. Having a diverse toolbox is immensely helpful, but knowing how to use what you have is much more important IMHO.
