"Shucker" is a perjorative for people who do menial labor, as the ruling class dominates all aspects of the culture. So if you harvest corn, you "shuck" it, hence, "shucker."
It also has a hard consonant at the end, which made "frak" such a good substitute. And that's part of it -- if you can say "frak" on TV, then the obvious curse-substitute survives the larger media test. I don't make these rules, I just observe.
"Shuck" and "frak" are way better than "Gorram," which gets my vote for the worst curse substitute.
