The idea that God created man in his own image would be funny, if it wasn't sad. For example, God doesn't need many of our organs, like our reproductive organs, etc. But that's the problem with The Church today, they cling to the literal interpretation of the Bible...which is not very farsighted. That was the best way to explain their philosophy to people 3000 years ago...how else would you talk to them? But it should not be taken _literally_ today. For example, the great thinkers always hated the "3 witnessed miracles for sainthood" thing. And the Church has a lot of problems with that...who witnesses miracles anymore? Evolution is a proven scientific theory, and it has a LOT of support. It's not a perfect theory, but at least science tries. Sometimes it takes decades or centuries, and we still don't have all the answers, but at least it tries. Religion capitulates...it just says "ahh, God made it like that!" See how easy it is? You don't have to think at all... But anyway, I choose to believe that if there is a God, the greatest gift he gave me is my brain. And to not use my brain would be to betray God.
