Loved the short story, Scott - while listening to it, it felt like "straight" SF from the "Golden Age", but thinking it over it could have just as well been set in the Wild West. Could sort of see the ending coming, but that didn't make it any less satisfying, and I personally didn't see a problem in the inevitable switch in point-of-view at the end. In fact, I agree with a comment above that it would have been great to hear you read it as you are a superb reader (and the accents are greatly improved in Ancestor!). Then at the end perhaps it could switch to a female reader narrating in the first person - that would have impact. But that would mean rewriting the story, so I guess not a sensible suggestion. Anway, memorable and very enjoyable. I hope there's some way we can get to hear lots more of these short ones.
