Hi Xenophanes, It's just a short one! I know many drugs and chemicals are biovat processed to produce the precursor or even the target molecule (and beer!). How feasible would it be to alter a culture that naturally resides in the human body to produce precursor metabolites (correct term?) or drugs such as tamiflu when stimulated by an environmental response. E.g. temperature goes up or immune system response of some sort. Does this sort of technology exist? We do drug delivery through protein cages and gelatins etc but a responsive self growing factory in the body would be fun. Except for the drugs companies.....Thanks very much for taking the time out to answer what I hope isn't a totally stupid question!
