I bust my ass to come up with original concepts anchored in scientific fact - no metaphysical cop-outs for me. My books have rules, which I establish early, and follow them so the reader knows what he or she is going to get. It's a lot of work, and if you'll notice, no Vampires, Zombies, Mummies, et al.
