The audiobook is known as "the director's cut." It's got four scenes that are not in the hardcover. These scenes are very blended and add to the story, but they are not "cut" from the main story. I finished the hardcover, and then told Crown I would podcast the whole thing, and the audio guys were miffed they had to sell something that was being given away for free. I tried to tell them they will sell more of the INFECTED audiobook than anything else they sell BECAUSE  it is FREE and gets more exposure, but they don't believe me. So, to make these hardworking people happy, we added some extra content. Buy it, don't buy it, totally up to you -- it's good stuff, but it's extra stuff.
