The spoiler you mentioned was actually previously mention in Episode 5. When Pookie Chang and Bryan Clauser visit Mr. Biz-Nass he gives them a brief history of Marie's Children. In that section, he reveals that the members of Marie's Children had been in operation in San Francisco for 150 years but hadn’t been seen since 1984. The cult members were rumored to be cannibals and the cult itself was said to be started by a witch known as Marie and her son known as First Born.
