It might just be that the NYT list is one of the last vestiges of the old world of Big Publishing - one that the "get ye'r smack for free and then buy it if y'all like it!" setup is inherently at odds with.

Will stay loyal regardless of the 'secret approval selection list' of the NYT!

It's  the smack that counts!
