Excellent Story but tiny little things ...
I enjoyed that immensely but do have one thing to say.
Sargeants are called Sargeant - not Sir or Ma`am. Call an Army or Marine Sgt 'sir', and you're going hear all about how it might be different in your family, but in his, parents married BEFORE having children.
Commissioned Officers are 'sir' and 'ma`am'. Non-comms are Sgt., Gunny, Chief, etc.
Star Trek started this whole calling women 'sir' thing. Don't ask me where they got it. In all my years in the military, if you made the mistake of calling a woman, 'sir', you generally got your skin ripped off your body and shoved down your neck.
Men are called 'sir'.
Women are called 'ma`am'.
The uniform does not constitute a sex change, just a limitation on fashion choices.
