Anything that defaces the book lowers the value to collectors!  If it is a hardcover with a DJ, the DJ can be switched.  However on those copies of Ancestor - you're out of luck.  Unfortunately the copies of Ancestor are more collectable because they are from a smaller printing company and are likely to be reissued by Crown.  Thus they willl be the first true printing of the book.  Also, personalized signings vs just the authors signature are less desirable.  My step-dad owns a sports card shop!!!!!!
