How far along the path should I be?

This seems to be an excellent way to take advantage of the space and its potential. 

My initial question is, "How far along the path do you need to be?"  Meaning, do I need to be an established author with an already large contingent of listeners prior to working with DOM?  Or are you segmenting and tiering the business to address authors at different stages of their online careers?
