Wow! Here's what I received back for those who are curious:
Outside of a couple of local columns that take a look at the lighter side local news, The Augusta Chronicle does not publish satirical news material, and as such, this article by staff writer Billy Byler is as legitimate as it can be. It is based on direct contact with the person trying to start the league and various local representatives. If he turns around tomorrow and says it’s a joke, then we’ll report it as such tomorrow, but we can only write based on the information presented by our sources. International attention to the story has resulted in it being viewed in excess of 200,000 times, not to mention more traffic to discussion in a column by our sports columnist Scott Michaux and a follow-up blog posted on the subject this afternoon.
