I can definately see your point, We obviously were not going to give Gemrans during WWII a trial or extend them rights belonging to US Citizens.  Yet there are clearly defined rules pertaining to Prisoners of war, certain rights accorded them even though they are trying to kill people of our country.  There is something about the way we've squirrelled people away in Guantanimo and other places the just reaks of bad odor.  I'm not saying that most if not all the people there aren't evil SOBs who deserve to disappear forever, but At least in WWII we didn't place our detention camps in other countries so it would be easier to ignore the consequences.
