Annnnnnd, I'm back!  Last Friday I was beset by power outage issues, but today I'm here to bring you another little taste of SiglerFest 2011! 

Junkie Icepick, known outside these parts at Bruce Press, is a terrific, graceful photographer.  If you've been to Balticon or Dragon*Con, you've seen Bruce with his swank camera, taking killer shots.  

If you were at SiglerFest, you met the whole "Pick" clan (including Julie, or "Wifepick" who turned in a star-making performance as Betty Lou Hunterson in our live reading; and Bruce's son Ben, who worked with me all day at SiglerFest, dressed like Dr. Who. Yeah, you read that right.  Ben & the FDØ were in cahoots to surpirse me, and it was the best thing evah. EVAH!)

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Scott here, adding in a note. This might be the most-embarassing story I have ever created. I wrote this as a senior in high school, when Run DMC, Beastie Boys, NWA, Salt-n-Peppa and Kid-N-Play were ripping off faces all over the world. I'd read some of the SPELLSINGER series by Alan Dean Foster, and felt that hip-hop would be "bitchin' " (I belive that was the word I used at the time) as a poetic form of spell-casting. I'm sure I thought this was fantastic when I wrote it. Enjoy a laugh at my expense.

Scott interviews Carl Zimmer about his awesome new book SCIENCE INK.  Carl writes The Loom, and has a huge gallery of science tattoos on his site.  He's just released a big, beautiful, full-color coffee table book of said science tattoo art.

Scott counts Carl Zimmer as one of his big influencers, citing Carl's book PARASITE REX as an inspiration for INFECTED. So it's quite cool to note that Scott's empty set tattoo is featured in SCIENCE INK.

It's Veteran's Day here in the US, and we here at Dark Øverlord Media wanted to pass along our sincere thanks to the folks who serve and the people who love them.
We created this video last year, and since then have gained a lot of Junkies, many who are service men and women.  When we thought about how we'd say thank you this year, we kept coming back to the heartfelt messages in this video.  So although it's "old news" now, the message is evergreen.
