Russian leader Vladimir Putin congratulates aspiring world dictator Scott Sigler after AST Publishing bought the rights to publish the horror novel INFECTED in Russian.MOSCOW (AP) - Russian President Vladimir Putin today announced his support of the Russian-language publication of author Scott Sigler's novel, INFECTED.
"I like people that aspire to rule the world," Putin said. "That kind of can-do attitude takes real chutzpah."
Crown Publishing sold the Russian language rights to AST Publishing. The official publication date has not yet been set.
Sigler has made no effort to hide the controversial fact that he counts Putin, Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez and North Korean prime minister Kim Jong Ill as his world-domination mentors. Sigler commonly refers to these world leaders as his "Three Amigos of Domination."
Sigler could not be reached for comment. No one has heard from him in two weeks. He is rumored to be holed up in a remote area of the Andes, recording the audiobook for INFECTED.

Dumb Question
They buy the rights
This is Jamingus, Scott's butler. Scott is in the Andes working on the INFECTED audiobook. I will answer for him:
They pay a fixed amount to publish it. It's an advance, same as a deal with an American publisher. You get X% of each book sold. That % first goes to pay back the advance. So let's say the Russian deal is a $1,000 advance, a 10% royalty and a sale price of $20 (for hardcover). That means I get $2 per book sold, but the first $1,000 (the first 500 copies) goes back to the publisher to cover that advance.
