First of all, wishing the best on this Memorial Day to any of you who have lost a loved one in the service.
A big triple-whammy hit home this week to delay the episode. First, I was the Toastmaster at the BayCon scifi convention in Santa Clara, CA. Good times! I introduced myself as "the toastiest thing this side of a Denny's breakfast bar," and the good times just rolled from there. I can say with a straight face that I had a few beverages at a Klingon party, then stood in the hall I designated as "the tough part of the hotel" and screamed "just keep on walkin'!" to the people in bad fairy costumes, then finished the night with a live performance of the Rocky Horror Picture Show by "Barely Legal." Two in the morning comes with a price tag, my friends.
BayCon occupied me through Monday night. Second part of the double-whammy? NOCTURNAL Episode #28 looks like it will be over an hour of pure story. I've been recording and editing all friggin' day. Seven hours straight.
The third wammy? I have a tight deadine for the first draft of CONTAGIOUS and have to write that at night, no exceptions. When I don't have a NOCTURNAL episode due, I'll be writing CONTAGIOUS all day.
So, NOCTURNAL Episode #28 will post on Wednesday, May 27.
Where the hell?
Where to post technical errors for future book editing ?
C'mon Scott, you can't decock a Glock!
I've been listening ever since Ancestor, and my lust for technical editing has finally forced me to complain to the Overlord.
Does Scott have a posse of technical editors?
Doin some recon and i saw
the dreaded hutchinssssssss has not yet posted the promised obsidian episode

I was thinking....
A couple Nocturnal episodes back, if I remember correctly, Scott asked if we had any ideas or suggestions with regards to the storyline before it hit print. I made me think and here are my 2 cents.
I personally feel that Rex who plays a very powerfull role in the story is not presented as a bad ass enough. Even though he wacked his foster mom scar face style, and he made first born bow to his rules, for some reason I just don't buy it. Maybe that also has to do with the voice that is used to present his character. I just don't buy it (I know its fiction) that high school kid talks down to firstborn, Mafia boss, chief of police.
Here's my suggestion. Rex needs to be a couple years older, no longer in high school but starting out in University. Instead of being hassled by a gang, turn the hasslers into jocks (I believe that is the word used in the USA for athletes). You could them make him go after the entire football/basketball/hockey team.
We need more sex in the story. Rex needs to be in love with a chick, maybe one of his University professors. I can just feel a storyline there.
One more brainfart from my end: Give Rex a twin sister. Not only will this allow you to present a wicked chick with hate feelings to the story, there is all kind of plots you can put in then. Rex is kinda nerdy, his sister is hot but an outcast. Together they wack the star player of the football team. Also you can have his hot weird sister mess with Pookie and Brian.
Don't get me wrong, I truly like the story as is and enjoy every episode. Let me know what you think.

Loving Nocturnal!!!!
When I first began to listen, I thought to myself, "who the hell is this guy?" Now I know. You are our leader, our pusher, our General. I commute by bike 2 hours a day, and your excellent pod-casts have prevented insanity (from listening to the sound of wind, and my own inner dialogue) from totally taking over. You have provided me with hours of entertainment, and lots (and lots) of violence!!!!
I am totally loving Nocturnal. I usually listen to your podcasts once they have all been dropped, and have (until last Halloween) not fully understood the "Junkie" handle. I started downloading Nocturnal a couple of days after the first drop, and have been living on pins (and needles), waiting for the next, then the next, then the freaking next episode!
Thank you so much for this excellent story. Just when I think I can predict what is going to happen next, the General zigs when I was sure he was going to zag.
Pookie Chang is excellent. I especially enjoyed the exchange between him and BMB, when "the Black Mr. Burns" goes for the 'mom' insult/retort once too often! Priceless!!
Keep up the fantastic writing
OOh yeah feel the rush.
The shakes were getting really bad thanks mister pusher man.

Interesting...
Funny, when the story started, I really liked Brian and Pookie. Then Rex came along, and reminded me of myself when I was that age. (Cept for the splintered arm). Now, I like Marie's Children, and hope they eventually eat the cops.( Alternate ending?)
I love it when the FDO does Robin's voice; so sexy. Maybe a 1 900 number is in the works?
Oh yeah, thank you for all the great stories FDO. Keep up the awsome work.
I'd like to see that!
An FDO 1-900 number?!

The kid has a lot of spunk (at least now he does) you have to admit that. I think we were all bullied at least once in our young lives and day dreamed about revenge and control.

So that's why you weren't at Balticon!
Missed you at Balticon, although I did get a chance to meet the evil hutchinsssss, who was a really nice guy! (sorry FDO).
All will be forgiven if you post some pictures/video of BayCon so some of us East-Coaster's can live vicariously :)

I was at Balticon! I attended a panel where some guy who met our FDO at a convention was talking about how now he has a podcast novel of his own. I really wanted to ask if he was the elevator guy.
It was great to meet Tee Morris, and even though I've been Podcasting for a year I went ahead and picked up his Podcasting for Dummies books. (Don't worry FDO, I didn't give him tooo much dirt about your days writing for ICE.) Tee was a nice guy,
