Glad you’re enjoying Nocturnal.   If you notice other files out there called things like ?1PUVJK, do yourself a huge favor and listen to Sigler’s "The Rookie".  It’ll explain all sorts of details for both the new "The Crypt" as well as Heroes from the Bloodcast.

I got my start in podcast novels with 7th son. I am beta clone 199 (really, go check it out) Anyway, I really enjoyed the podcasts. I found it through a fan page and was hooked from day one. Then I got into Siglers work. So far, I have listened to Crecent, 7th Son, Infection, Earthcore, Bloodcast, and now listening to Nocturnal. LOVING IT!!!

Nathan Lowell’s Seris – Quarter Share, Half Share and Full Share were a great listen.  About Working on a Corporate spaceship trading vessel and comming of age.  No lasers, no space battles, just a great story and characters in a well thought out universe that will draw you in and leave you wanting more.

    Allisandro Cima – Pirate Jack

Yeah, I listened to Hutchens stuff too.  Started off so sweet and then just stretched on too long and lost it’s punch.  I was sick of it all before it finally ended.

Ok She’s moved on to the Bar and is on her 4th Screwdriver so now I can continue….quietly…

Murder on Avedon Hill is also superb, you’ll see below PG Holyfield has put some comments on regarding his PoDcasts….this is a Brilliant Fantasy Storyline …..with some gory bits & Vampires chucked in for good measure….the sound track is Brilliant and well thought out and also really good sound effects…and different voices for Characters…..its a great listen all round.

    Also,
As suggested here – A English PoDcast One Among the Sleepless – by Mike Bennett.
Its a very English Modern day story but with a twist…a tramp called Dusty Johnson….is a very dark character…..with Evil in his Blood. I’m only on Chapter 11 but its getting very very interesting indeed…..

I was turned on to Sigler almost three years ago while searching for something other than music to put on my mp3 player. I’d discovered EscapePod (www.escapepod.org) after listening to an NPR program and from there managed to find Sigler.

Since then, I continue to listen to EscapePod and also listen to:

and a few non-fiction sites I won’t bother to mention. I’ve also been following along with Playing for Keeps, but I have to say I’m not very impressed. Don’t get me wrong, I love Mur, but I find PFK painful.

    Hi Freakazoid101…

Well I’m now 42 so its kinda settled down a bit..However that said, I unfortunately did not have the benefit of a private school, I went to Bristnall Hall Secondary School, which is kind of between Oldbury and Smethwick….so its kind of Black country and Brummie combined…but listen…I’m nothing but proud of where I come from…so I am what I am….obviously still fairly literate though… or else we would not be enjoying the benefit of these books or Podcasts!!

You are right though with how we are portrayed….but if people have any idea of what part Birmingham or “Brummigham” played in the industrial revolution …they might think again before taking the Mickey.

Freakazoid101 – where were you bought up??

By the way here’s some words to get you all going….see if you can say them in a true Brummie accent??

A bag of suck – Four ounces of sweeties
    Aar kid – Our Kid
    Ackers – Money
    Acucks Groin – Acocks Green
    Addick – Haddock (fish)
    Adu – How are you?
    Affpast – Half past
    Ahr – Yes
    Ahr wow I won’t
    Air – The wife
    Ales Owin – Halesowen
    Anyroadup – anyhow, anyway
Ar bay – I am not
    Ar bin – I am
Ar’l goo tClent – Expression of surprise
    Arf soaked – Stupid
    Arffa – Half
    Ark – Listen
Arse Cream – Frozen confectionery (as in Ice creame)
Aynit – Is it not ?
    Azzo – as though
Bab “used as a term for an adult woman as in “Oroit Bab?”
    Babbee – Small child..the youngest
    Barmy – Insane
    Baygoona – Not going to.
    etc…etc…….

glad you asked. I think once every week is best. Rare occurances of 2 weeks can be alright as well. I’m torn on the being 100% done thing. it allows you to tweak the story and maybe fix some minor glitches, but it all depends on your style. If you’re a machine like Mercedes Lackey, you can pump out content by the reams and it’a alright. If you take more time, you might want to consider getting more of it done prior to publishing and then just use the additional info as editing fodder. Thanks for asking. I always enjoy interacting with authors.b

Do you have a full on brummie accent? Mine has been sabotaged by the private school system (thank the lord for scholarships) so it’s been ages since I’ve heard one. I hate how when I tell people I’m from brum they say Burrmingum, in a full on Dudley accent, and I’m like No! That’s Dudley. And them they say Dudley in a brummie accent. Annoys the hell out of me.

Considering the last two chapters had to be split into two episodes each, I might make it all the way to 50 eps. Be patient… this is going to be a long year for me. I haven’t figured out the secret to getting my production time under 10 days.

I have always been a reader, but there are just sometimes you can’t get away with reading. However, my alarm clock has an iPod dock, my car has an auxiliary input and my sound system at work alsoo has an aux. in. To shorten this. I blazed through all the Bloodcasts in 2 days and I started Nocturnal yesterday and am now listening to Ch 7 as I type this. (it’s good to be the boss). By the end of the day, I expect to be jonesin for the next ‘cast, and I don’t know how to handle non-instant gratification. Any suggestions for a noob from vets???

I had this week downloaded a couple of real crap ones from ITunes…one of which was a computer generated voice doing some sort of dictation of a book….that was real crap…..and then a couple of rather camp sounding Orators….that really turned me off…..and now Avedon Hill…….sounds a bit 16th Century with a twist of Fantasy….yeps its really quite interesting ….and i might even offer to be a voice….but perhaps that option has moved on now……but thanks Treed for the info and SynapticJam for some info on your reading…..and even better new i get an email telling me #12 is out today ……so its all looking rosy from here!!!

    Cheers Junkies.

I agree with you on Black Shadow, plus his choice of voice can be a bit over the top every once in awhile. I listened to Children of the Gods too. Not bad. I’ll hadd a few of the other ones.

What do you think of his production??
I find it a bit heavy on the effects, makes it hard to hear the dialogue and narration, for me anyway. Could be my old ears.
    Good story though.

As to your list, I would also add the following
Escapepod – one story a week, good stories scifi
Psuedopod – like escapepod but horror (their first story was one of scott’s)
Stranger Things – their first story was also one of scott’s
    Manic Mondays – just fun
SciFi Surplus – fun and informative
Children of the Gods – like star trek, but different
Knitwitch’s scfi/fantasy – stories interviews (hey scott, she’s a junkie, let her interview you, she did Morris this month) and fun stuff

And as far as completed podcast stories and books and podfaded podcasts…….too many to list right now

I’m listening to Murder at Avedon Hill, and honestly, it’s a pretty good podcast. Good production values, engaging story and plot. I’m actually really enjoying it. And it does give one something to do while awaiting their next fix…
Most of these are listed on Podiobooks, others can be found.

Actually, this is the list of what I’m currently listening to:

    Black Shadow – Energetic
Communion of the Saint – Intriguing
Checkwolf – sophmoric, but mildly entertaining
Darkage – Amateurish, but they’re trying really really hard
Decoder Ring Theater – (kids love this one) Hard Boiled
Hall of Mirrors (if he ever publishes another one)
Interview for a Wizard (not too bad. passes the time)
A Long November (Christmas is over, finish the podcast already)
Morevi remastered – Tee is one of the masters
Murder at Avedon Hill – The story is really ramping up…
Playing for Keeps – Gotta love the power to control elevators
Seth Harwood LWFD – Palms Daddy found here
Secret World Chronicle – Good stories but fractured, and of late, late
    Space Casey – She’s a riot
Tamshi’s Imp – Plods along, but it’s something to listen to
Transistor Radio – Nemcoff is awesome
The Veingel – Really taking too much time to get the story out…

Crazy thing is that even with this big list, I still only get a few a week to listen to…

Other completed ones I’d recommend if you want to mainline it:
Seth Harwood – Jack Palms I & II – Gotta Shake Em’ Down
7th Son – Sorry Sigler, but it “is” a good story, not as good as yours of course
    Basil Sands – 65 Below – Karl’s Last Flight – Excellent
Darker Projects – Take your pick, they’re all really good
Nemcoff – Listen to em’ all.
A Different Point of View (TD0013) – LMAO
Nathan Lowell – Quarter/Half/Full/South Coast – Worth every minute
One among the sleepless – freaked me out
Pirate Jack – Good for kids
Serve it Cold – a ride to enjoy
ShadowMagic – If you haven’t listened to this one yet, why?
Pocket and the Pendent – Takes a while to get into, but it doesn’t suck
Failed City Monologues – Keeps you hooked through to the very end.
    Brave Men Run – nostalgic
Billibub Baddings – Dwarf Lovin’ – Nuff said.

That’s an abbreviated list… I don’t think any of these could take the place of a Sigler Fix, but it would get you by… I might post this list as a separate topic and look for additions from everyone…

Listen…..I think this might be Cold Turkey or Something….perhaps its a rubbish but i’m waiting like mad for the next hit….Its like missing Heroes or 24 for a week and then getting a bit moody about it…

Anyhow I will have a look at the link that was suggested by Treed…..but I still hink this is quite a good Idea………just to keep the boredom at arms length…..

CheersJunkies….sorry if I sounded like a twat or something!!!

Ηi Junkiez I have changed the Format of this Forum….since my last suggestion was slammed by the Forum Visitors———Miserable Buggers….Anyhow here we go with a new Idea!!!…. As we are all waiting axiously for another episode of Nocturnal…And obviously Scott will take some time to get to it….why don’t we have like a "Listeners Edition" of what’s "HOT" & what’s "NOT" in the PODCAST world??…. Here we can discuss what other Authors we are reading/Listening to at the moment…and as below with PG Holyfield and others we can get comments and feedback from them about our Comments…on them,…..if you see what I mean. Anyhow….we have had some great suggestions so far and comments….but we could make this a really informative and regular forum….And Perhaps the Dark Overlord™ …could post a few comments himself….FOR GODS SAKE SIGLER IT IS YOUR DOMAIN AFTER ALL!!! Anyhow….Please read below….I have found some Great Podcasts that were suggested from here…. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(PS) No idea what crack Hits are …but if you want to give me some i’d appreciate it…but God only knows why??…….
