For those of us who don’t do Windows and aren’t Mac fanboys but instead choose the freedom of Linux, there are a number of ebook reader option. I personally use Calibre (http://calibre-ebook.com/) which supports Linux, Windows and Mac. It’s available for most popular Linux distribution via the package manager, or the latest version can be downloaded from the Calibre website and installed with minimal effort.
From the Calibre Quick Start Guide:
“The purpose of calibre is to simplify management of your e-book collection. It does this in several ways:
Calibre organizes your collection as a database so you can find the book you want when you need it. Calibre easily handles any size of collection, with a variety of tools to manipulate e-book metadata – title, author, rating, etc…
Calibre converts between multiple e-book formats.
Calibre support a growing number of e-book readers, including Kindle, Sony, Nook and many other.”
Note that Calibre can convert between various ebook formats and it’s FREE (as in beer and speech). So no more excuses for not enjoying ebooks people! Go out and enjoy all the great Scott Sigler ebooks on you desktop and let your friends know!
