This sounds right up Sigler's alley

http://www.worldwildlife.org/who/media/press/2008/WWFPresitem10990.html?intcmp=64

Thousands of new species discovered in southeast asia, including spiders 1 foot wide and one that ambushes prey by dropping out of the trees

My favorite is the dragon millipede, its hot pink with cyanide in its body. I think it would make an awesome monster of the Nocturnals

I wonder how Scott can modify this creature and put it in the Rookie universe?

Thanks for posting this!! Spiders that fall from trees? I must modify my "kill everyone" strategy to include this.

I HATE spiders, they scare me, nothing else really bothers me, I even like snakes, but spiders? Nooooo! I mean they can hang out on the ceiling and wait for you to wander by then JUMP on you.....shudder!

Re: This sounds right up Sigler's alley

I despise spiders, the little bitty and some what larger ones creep me out to the max. But Tarantulas dont bother me, I guess its because the others are so small they can get in to anything. Under clothing, sheets etc...But Tarantulas are larger and easier to see. I've had several as pets, most are very docile, though some can be quite aggressive.

Re: This sounds right up Sigler's alley

 1) it is http://www.elece.net/blog/2008/12/26/extrana-fauna-del-mekong/

2) they really do http://www.squidoo.com/huntsman-spider

Huntsman Spiders get their name by waiting for prey to come close, and like lions, chase their prey for short distances. Contrary to their gangly and cumbersome appearance, Hunstman Spiders are very fast and are able to chase down their prey with ease.

Hunstman Spiders are extremely aggressive, will arch up to make displays to frighten off perceived threats, and will tenaciously cling to attackers or perceived attackers if they think it will protect them. Given any other circumstance, Hunstman Spiders are designed to slip through holes and cracks and will escape if they feel outmatched.

Not venomous and they only bite humans if threatened. But I'm sure in Sigler verse... all that goes out the window.

Hell yes I want one of those! They can take care of any mouse problems I might have! Though, admittedly, this one is creepy as hell.
