The Link.
Has anyone noticed how just about every story sigler has ever written are linked in one way or another? I'll give a few examples. The Alien in the story "The Wolf" was a Ki. Anyone catch that? The Alien's that were chasing the Roctopi were Qwuith. Anyone else see any? There are some more obvious ones. Discuss.

Re: The Link.
Ok give me a sec. Ok as far as I remember. The ship that was chasing the Roctopi closley resembled the space station's for the orbiting death. I forget the name, help me out here. OMG My memory is shot. I sound like an idiot. Plus the qwuith that quentin was talking to on the way, talked about how the Qwuith had "people" (IE the roctopi), who would go and mine Platinum from asteroids. So I just kinda put two and two together. Crap! Now I need to go listen to the Rookie again to clarify. Am I waaaayyy off track here scott?

I do remember something along those lines. The interconnectedness of the Siglerverse is one of my favorite parts. -- The ways of the Lord are often dark but never pleasant.

Re: The Link.
At the risk of quoting another famous PodCasting author, the Sigler-verse does indeed seem to pop up in almost all of his work. What I find interesting is that he doesn't seem to use it as a crutch. If a story works and incorporates something of the 'verse in there, we'll find it. If including would be just too much, we don't see it. Snipe Hunt is a fine example. Here, Siggie had a chance to get his work and 'verse out to the D&D listening audience, and he apparently went in another direction. I'm waiting for a big ol' wall chart timeline in the future showing us all how the pieces that are in the puzzle fit together. ------- Whole Lot of Nonsense PodCast - http://www.wholelotofnonsense.org UUCSH Sunday Services - http://uucsh.libsyn.com Follow Me - http://www.twitter.com/bpende Pownce on Me - http://www.pownce.com/bpende

Re: The Link.
It sounds like a different sort of story... any guesses how (besides killing off us junkies) he might link the aliens in here?

Re: The Link.
Though clearly a lot of thought has gone into putting the 'verse together and what roles everyone and everything play, the connections themselves are usually subtle and could easily go unnoticed except by us real junkies. They're much more bonus easter eggs for the true fans rather than cosmic lynchpins holding pieces of the story together. -- The ways of the Lord are often dark but never pleasant.

There was also a reference to the 'Kool Suit' in 'The Rookie,' which I believe Scott said was a direct descendant to the ones used in 'Ancestor.'

Re: The Link.
Siggie leaked (?) that it's possible that the rocktopi under Mt. Fitzroy may have avoided the disease that screwed up the rocktopi we saw in Earthcore. Maybe there's another population in Nocturnal? It's also possible that it may be a stand-alone in the Universe... or even a new species we've not seen yet, but may see in some future novel. So, there may be a tie-in we just don't know about yet. ------- Whole Lot of Nonsense PodCast - http://www.wholelotofnonsense.org UUCSH Sunday Services - http://uucsh.libsyn.com Follow Me - http://www.twitter.com/bpende Pownce on Me - http://www.pownce.com/bpende

It definitely falls in the universe, though. One more for the wall chart... Am I gonna have to make the chart myself, or did someone else volunteer? Re: The Link.
Isn't the idea with the wiki to do stuff together? Anyway, I started with a very, very short timeline at: http://www.scottsigler.com/wiki/index.php/Timeline Let's all come together, fill the timetable with good stuff, hold hands and sing "Cumbaya" around the camp-fire. Well, maybe not that last bit...

Re: The Link.

Hello all. This is a very exciting thread! What a thrill to see you all putting the pieces together. It all leads to something really, really big - that I might not get to in this lifetime (or I might be bullshitting you all and I haven't figured out what the "big thing" is yet).

Anyway, NOCTURNAL is present-day, happening right now. I'm even going to address real-time news issues in the podcast. That might change for the print version. Therefore, there's not going to be a lot of links to the ROOKIE Universe, although it's all one big universe -- ROOKIE is our universe, just way out in that there future.

Oh Lord... You are totally right. It's all about sharing the effort. I'm just afraid to start some of the things, because I don't want to get picked on for doing it wrong... I should get over that (note to self... tell therapist I have starting project issues...) Re: The Link.
I'm all about the inside joke and the reference that only 1 in 159 people will understand, and I think that the type of 'cross-pollination' that happens in the Sig-verse is what gives the thousands of displaced MST3K fans (MSTies) something new to happily obsess over. The bonus is, it's not just in the Sig-verse, but in the pod-novel writers' uber-clique as a whole... I'm not ashamed to say that I almost soiled myself with glee when I listened to 'Hell'. You just gotta pick something fun and dive right in. Otherwise we'll never get the damn thing populated. I'm reading the print version of EarthCore now and adding tidbits here and there as I go. -- The ways of the Lord are often dark but never pleasant.

Like Hero's Dad's license plate in Heroes. If you pay attention, you get the reward. I enjoyed the cross-over contest with Infection for just this reason. Re: The Link.
I've noticed a few links as well. My problem, though, is that I get myself so caught up in the story that I can't or don't pay infinitesimal anal retentive attention to the physical description of the creatures in the stories. so I have a WHOLE lot of those "dude.. wait, was that a... dammit I can't remember what that one looked like for sure!!" sort of moments. I'm a recent junkie, I'm finishing up Earthcore now, and then I'll be caught up. Now I'll have to listen all over again to make sure i have the connections right. good GOD I just reread my first few lines. It looks like I barfed a damn dictionary.
corwin
Re: The Link.
It's so much easier to find all these connections with the print versions, I bet. I just finished the print version of Earthcore, and have it open by my side while I go through and add anal retentive details on minor characters to the Siglerpedia :) -- The ways of the Lord are often dark but never pleasant.
