Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this. I did a quick search and didn't see it or any thread for "external references."

In the playoff game, after the coin toss, Johannsen says to Quentin:

"A stay of execution mother fucker. I look forward to killing you soon."

This is the catchphrase of "The Ninja" from http://askaninja.com/ :D
