Let's get the Rookie in print!!!

Hey all you Junkies,

I am demanding that we get our Rookie lovin' asses off the couch and demand a printed edition of our favorite novel! The other day I was checking out another author's blog (yeah I know that's not allowed buy one of Scalzi's fans got the drop on me and held a gun to my head), and I discovered that a simple blog post had gotten a long out of print set of books republished (The Chronicles of Master Li and Number Ten Ox, by Barry Hughart). Now, if those limp-wristed John Scalzi fans can get a cloth bound limited edition of some moldy old book made, I say that we junkies can get a slammin', kevlar bound edition of the Rookie made. Subterranean Press has a history of doing this type of bad-ass special edition, so lets appeal to the Siglerissimo to get this done. Just tell me who's skull I have to make into a drinking mug to have one of these produced, and I am there!

This is the best sigler book yet hands down, waaaaay better than ancestor, it was SOOOO good!

In the UK ive never watched or played american football but i LOVED this, hurry up with the sequels

for these, bring out the jerseys and the print.

i've only read infected, but ive read the synopsis for the rookie. im a big football fan, so id enjoy the book very much so. this probaly would make you hella more famous. c'mon scott! do it for your people!

Every time I have one! And, BONUS: I've never even had malaria! Gin is awesome! (Oh crap, that's tonic that prevents malaria. I LOVE TONIC!..with my Gin.) And dry Vermouth. Oh, and those large Queen Olives with the pimentos in them. Shadygirl tells me vegetables are good for me, so you see, I can't go wrong with this! (Shaken, not stirred.)

i got really really drunk once when drinking a bottle of the stuff and almost puked my guts out. Now i won't touch the stuff with a 10 meter stick

The vermouth is good to dip the olives in, or maybe for just a splash in the gin martini. I also like the martini "dirty," but will drink it without the dirt as well. You're the first person I've ever spoken with who tried to drink a bottle of vermouth! You have my respect, good sir.

The Rookie is by far the FDOL's best work to date. An interesting storyline in a totally new universe. He has said in other posts that it is his desire to create the next Alien or such instantantly reacognizable creature. Well my fellow junkies I think he has done it with the Rookie Universe. The possibilities for additional stories, movies, games...are endless. Get this SOB in print so Crown will see that this is a franchise they need to invest heavily in. Dare I say it? Yes...The next Star Wars. Long live the FDOL. Now give me my damned Nocturnal episode!!!

what would you want more another book or an old one, i recon a view at tear 1 ball is gona be better. i hope there is more violance in the new one though.

I have to agree but he said in the podcast that it would be printed from Dragon Moon Press in November 2007. Look there now and it says coming soon. Somehow we need The Rookie in print.

will our FDO still be able to use an online publisher. where the books only get printed when

they are ordered? I have a friend that did this but not sure there would be a conflict with

Crown.

books were published that way. I could be way wrong though. I know he went through some small runs with a publisher; just not sure if it was a publish on demand deal, or not.

Scott mentioned in the last podcast that it might happen in April, but it's not official yet.

I think that THE ROOKIE has the most potential to bring in new recruits to Siglerism of any of the books, just because of the sports aspect. I've got a lot of friends who are footbal fans AND sci-fi geeks. To them, the combination of the two sounds great. I've got a package ready to burn to CD of the podcast just for them, but I haven't had the time to actually make the CDs yet (holidays are a bitch).
