Must have worked, since I just got a text from my mom telling me it's there! Now I'll just have to wait for her to ship it to me. Luckily shipping between us takes just a day.

... my schoolwork is interfering with my actual reading. I've got 1.5 to 2 hours of commute each day so this is a good compromise.

My hardcovers just arrived today. Looks like camping out on the backmybooks link paid off (I'm squirming with joy):

I also bought one more (#13), which is very special to me. I've already posted this on FB and Flickr, but I'd like to share it here with my Junkie Family and Friends as well. Once I got involved in the second book with some logo designs (and showed up in the story as a linebacker for the Mars Planets), I bought my father the first two books. The connection between football, science fiction, and my artwork brought us together in a way that we never had before (though we were very close to begin with). Back in January 2011, he was diagnosed with cancer. I had ordered him a copy back in April in hopes that he would make it to the release so he could see it (he was very proud that I had been commissioned to do the work on the insert). Two months ago my father passed away (July). To honor him and keep the tradition, and to stay close to him in a way, I kept the order and am giving it to my mother in his honor and memory. I'm planning on buying him the entire series in his honor and give it to my mother as a way to keep his spirit alive.

I think that's a wonderful thing to do, both for your mom and your dad.  I'm sorry he can't see it with us, but I'm sure you know how proud he must be.  You're good people, Scott Pond.  I'm certainly proud and grateful to know you.

I double checked his badge and it looks like it was left blank.  So basically a (0) is what happens when you are in a book and have no badge.  I've updated it to HM for now and am conferring to ensure that's accurate.
