I suspect you that already have given your status as a movie junkie. If not, you should definitely check it out. Intergalactic gladiators with the 1980's Black Hole, Flash Gordon cheesy feel. Its definitely got bit of the flavor of Title fight and The Rookie in it as well. You will love it.
I remember that movie, despite being only a wee whipper snapper at the time. Wasn't too terrible from what I can recall, which admittedly is mostly the cover of the box in the video library.
