Ancestor .v. Jurassic Park
Did you ever have to consciously consider Jurassic Park while writing Ancestor? in terms of avoiding comparisons and in keeping the storyline original? Assuming that JP was written first, of course.

Blasphemy! Ancestor was written first! Don't you know Sigler is a master of time? "The spread of evil is the symptom of a vacuum. whenever evil wins, it is only by default: by the moral failure of those who evade the fact that there can be no compromise on basic principles."

Technically, it is similar science, if not the same. In my opinion three or more Ancestors would kill any Dinosaurs.

Re: Ancestor .v. Jurassic Park
Jurassic park was actually written by a character created by Scott Sigler, that escaped the literary world via the well of lost plots. Having entered our world, his only goal is to write lots of books using pseudoscience and a conservative point of view. Scott, upon discovering this, entered the well of lost plots and has released several characters from his original draft of "Earthcore" then called "Can you DIG it" to track this menace down.

With what I know of Dinosaur biting power verse Ancestor choppers, the Sigler Godd's creations could take any Dino except the Seismic-saurs. I may have spelled it wrong but the Seismics were like the Brachiasaurs and other Dino's from South America. They weighted so much they registered on the Richter scale when the moved..

Remember the ancestor was supposed to have ended the dino's reign(according to the book)

..but I just listened to the episode this was covered in last might. Jian(ms) said the it was believe the Ancestor for all mammals was wiped out for the Dinosaur to thrive. If I remember correctly, it was the world wide cataclysm that killed over 93% of known life in that eon. The Irishman from Ohio

I remember reading that the fossil record claimed the beast was 6'10", and so fierce for his size that he could win 3 out of 4 challenges against his mortal enemy the soft-bellied Hutchiomyopsis. ( It has been speculated that the 6'10' was an exaggeration, but we all know size doesn't matter.)

Ancestor's had numbers and a level of intelligence because they could signal each other as well.

...in the long run Ancestors would win vs Raptors. Actual Raptors were about half the size in the movies. They my have been a little faster in a straight run, but lack the strength and endurance of the Ancestors. The Irishman from Ohio

Re: Ancestor .v. Jurassic Park

No waiting on eggs to hatch. They're nearly full grown when "born". No waiting for  any of that whole labour thing. They just pop out when they're ready.  As for breeding, I think the dino's in JP were born preggers. I'm interested in seeing how Scott handles that one with the Ancestors.
