Re: Who got your book???

Went in to the local B&N store, looked at their new hardcover section . . nothing. then I looked in the shelves, nothing. then I went to the front to get my pre-orderd copy, and Oh was I so glad they had it.

I then explained to the cashier (who actually DID look interested) about podcasting novels and how I wouldn't be suprized if the book ends up on the best seller list soon.

Re: Who got your book???

I called the local B&N last week to reserve a copy. I show up at noon to get it and there was only one other copy on the shelve. What was I to do? I couldnt leave that poor little triangle alone...

Re: Who got your book???
I was shocked, Amazon put it in my hands on April 1. Now, I'm leaving for a conference on Friday. Should I save it until I get to the airport? What should I do about Nocturnal? I've been saving episodes for travel as well. Curse you Sigler, you are taking over my life

Re: Who got your book???

I got it!  I didn't pre-order but I had just planned to go buy it from the local Barnes & Noble.  Well it turns out I was broke today, but I got the day off from work, and I decided to pawn my Nintendo DS and some games to go buy it (Don't worry, I'm buying them back).  Sadly, I didn't get the satisfaction of seeing our future dark overlord's name on the shelf.  They didn't have it out, however, a very friendly associate tracked a copy down for me, at which time I promplty suggested the display those up front if they knew what was good for them (jokingly, of course.  At least, I let her think so). :)

Anyway, I think I may have converted the good man at the checkout counter.  I told him all about the dark overlord, and how he should visit this website for lots of cool stories.

Anyway, here are some pics.  I hope I get to see Scott when he is in Houston. I'm planning for it!

Check out these pics...

Re: Who got your book???

By the way, don't know how many may have noticed, but the Crown publshing logo on the spine of the book has a FRIGGIN' TRIANGLE in it!!!!!  That is awesome!!!

In case you missed it in my previous post, here's a link to a pic of the "INFECTED" Crown logo.  Cell phone picture, not great quality.

Got a few from Barnes and Noble - all the way on the 3rd floor. At first I couldn't find it, and the staff claimed they wouldn't have the book till the 8th!!  Thank goodness I needed my Infected Crack Fix!! I stayed right in front of them with a silly grin and kept saying "please try again" until they FOUND IT!!! Don't mess with a Junkie dammit! LOL!!

This a really NICE book! Great quality and the cover surpised me, its very nice!

I will post more pics of the book and I - at the book signing with our EVIL OVERLORD!!!

We did great today Junkies!! I am going to go and read myself to sleep now! Ahhh.....I can relax now with my fix.

Re: Who got your book???
The two bookstores closest to my house didn't have the book in stock :( - one had ordered 7 copies that hadn't arrived yet and at the other I would have to order it. So I looked at the Borders about 10 miles away and they had a stack of them, with great shelf placement - cover of the book fully visible at face level. Best of all, they were marked 20% off, which is what they do with books that are selling well. The pre-orders must have been great. I've been listening since Earthcore and have both the Earthcore and Ancestor books. This one, though - I can't believe how much the book has improved since it was first podcast. It still feels like a Sigler book, but it is more polished. The story flows better and the added material really improves the story. It showcases the talent that was always there to its best advantage. I have to admit that Infection/Infected was not my favorite of the Sigler podcast novels. Until recently that was Ancestor and now is Nocturnal. The gross-out factor in Infection wasn't counterbalanced by the character development and plot details. That has really been fixed in Infected. At the end of Infection I had enjoyed myself (does that make me sick and twisted?), but wasn't anxiously awaiting a sequel. From what I've read of Infected so far, I care a great deal more about the characters and am looking forward to the sequel. I figure that I might as well finish the book tonight as I am so creeped out already that I won't be able to sleep.

Re: Who got your book???
I made them dig through the boxes of new arrivals at my local Borders. With Nocturnal rocking it and the book release today, Scott is definitely improving my days. Least I can do is buy the book.

I posted pics and some Sigler glorification on my blog at Infected, a novel by Scott Sigler

Re: Who got your book???
I picked up mine today at my local Boarders bookstore. I freaked out at first because somebody had the nerve to put some other book in front of Infected and I thought that they had sold out. But after looking more carefully I found it and then went and did a little house keeping to Boarders' display. Needless to say when I left the store Infected's shelf space had somehow grown. Wink

Re: Who got your book???

Relating to the release...  Normally, I actually prefer Borders to B&N, but every B&N I've been to has at least had the books out on the shelves... if not prominently displayed while Borders, if they have it, have it in a box... hhmm..

Re: Who got your book???
Since I'm stuck working in a small city, my only options were Hastings and Waldenbooks. Called Hastings first, they had 3 copies and held one for me. Went in at lunch and picked it up. The other 2 copies were on the rack facing the front door (new releases) in prominent view AND the guy I talked to who worked there had heard about Scott and the podcasts. How awesome is that?

Re: Who got your book???

I picked mine up yesterday first thing after work at B&N here in Louisville, KY.  They had about four sitting on the shelf

Problem is that apparently a book that just came out doesn't rank the New Arrivals tables, while month old James Patterson and Suze Orman books do.

No, it was just sitting on the New Fiction shelves, which were behind Bestsellers and a display rack.  Sure, you could find it if you knew where to look, but it is blocked from view for casual browsers by that stupid display rack.

I've been listening since mid-way through Earthcore and own all the print copies of Siglerism.  And it all started with a search for audiobooks on iTunes in the hope of finding something to listen to on a road trip.
