that would be good but would the e-books be free

I'm not necessarily looking for free ones. I've read eBooks on my Palm since Dec '99, so -I'm- looking for a professionally assembled electronic copy of an eBook readable on my Palm. But remember, S, that Crown's in the business of selling books, not giving them away. They're already going out on a limb in letting Scott podcast them. We might as well reward them for doing so. Actually, "free" need not matter to us anymore. We've heard the books and liked them well enough to shell out the bread for the dead-tree versions. Until there's a technology that lets us convert physical books to ebooks on our own, we'll have to play by the publisher's rules. the thing about ebooks is this they do serve a purpose but i think in the initial run of the books launch they will want to generate as much revenue as possible from sales of the dead tree versions as this will get the books known in the internation markets as well as the domestic usa market i think an ebook version will be avaliable after about a year or so after once the book has bedded in , of course i dont have a clue about any of it realy its just my guess on how it might go down the ( evil overlord ) scott sigler himself would be the one to weigh in on this one i am afraid .........

I asked the question mostly to poke Siggie to ask Crown. The pattern of eBook nowadays is that they're available on or before the dead tree versions. I just recently bought the new Dexter novel in eBook format: http://ereader.com/product/detail/27476?book=Dexter_in_the_Dark:_A_Novel on the day it was available at my local Barnes & Noble. Most publishers seem to realize that it's one more potential revenue stream without the hassle of delivering boxes anywhere, dealing with returns, or having to worry about writing off remaindered books.
