It's fun and the beer tastes really good. The Big Guy makes a batch a couple times a year, the whole house smells like hops -- or for those who visited Busch Gardens in Tampa, it smells like Busch Gardens minus the elephant poo.

I enjoy beer you have to chew, so I'd probably use A LOT of hops.

For the starter kit, but it's about $50-60 for the supplies to make 5 gallons of beer. And, yes -- you can make some very hoppy bears. We generally use 2 kinds of hops.

you have to drink your mistakes. I did that once; couldn't bring myself to throw away what was clearly bad beer, especially after waiting so long. But it had to be done.
