I have studied both Wing Chun and Soo Hwa kung fu, both of which are very "street-useable" martial arts, but I have never seen a beat-down that compares to the Krav Maga-fueled one a former boyfriend of mine who was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division Recon platoon (LRS) gave to some Fayettville local at a bar one night when the guy called me a bitch. I have a deep appreciation for any art where the central philosophy is "always on the attack, and don't stop hitting your opponent until they are unconcious."

But his workour partners are pretty dang cooperative. I'd like to see a Krav guy compete in MMA. That would be a better guage for me.

As interesting as it would be there are too many rules in MMA for that to be effective. MMA's great but it's all about the context. Not wanting to start a mad debate but MMA fighters train very hard to take on other highly specialised fighters within a strict set of rules. Krav Maga trains for a totally different set of circumstances. The MMA fighter would probably win in the cage, but lose out of it.
Also, people only do those impressive crowd pleasers in demo's  either way, dude still looks like you at times.

Perhaps, back in the early days of UFC (before they enbraced "rules"), Krav Maga could have dominated because it is a true "street fighter" style that does not concern itself with petty concepts like "rules" and "honor" that have absolutely no place in a true life-or-death back alley fight. Oh, how I would have loved to see Royce Gracie get beaten the frakk down by a KM fighter around UFC 3. It would have taken that smug smile off his Brazillian Ju Jitsu face and rearrainged it into a mass of pulped flesh and teeth.

Yeah, I don't care for the Gracie clan or how they influenced the direction of UFC and MMA in general. In the ring or octagon, a KM fighter would have a hard time. On the street though, I would put my money on a well-trained KM fighter over the best UFC heavyweight champ any day of the week.
