Re: Biggest Junkie Looser - 6 week challenge

January 3rd: 289
March 11: 243.9

I'll find out in another hour and a half if I won the contest (it's based on % and not just straight pounds lost) but I think it'll be damn tough to beat that mark.

Also, the 3 girl scout cookies I just ate were the greatest Samoas I have ever had.  Ever.

Re: Biggest Junkie Looser - 6 week challenge

I get some every now and then but all I usually do is shred it and add it to a salad.  It gives another flavor to the greens mix and adds a little extra crunch.
Same with mustard and collard greens, though when you come across someone who knows how to cook collard greens properly, you normally come across an amazing dish.

I HATE them... they totally smell up the whole house. I like the adding it to a salad idea. I also have a recipe for braised Kale. I saw several recipes for "baked Kale chips" but that just sounded weird.

Re: Biggest Junkie Looser - 6 week challenge

Get all of my USDA food pyramid servings. I'm still one milk serving short for the day. Ugh, I hate milk (already had soy milk and yoghurt today). But I got all my veggies!  I updated my blog if anyone wants to follow along. http://warriorbabeotp.wordpress.com/ and don't miss out on The Shrinking Man Project (podcast and blog http://theshrinkingmanproject.com/) and the Lighter Mom Project (http://thelightermomproject.blogspot.com/) blog from a couple of other Junkie Losers!

Re: Biggest Junkie Looser - 6 week challenge

I did great on Friday, only missed 1 Dairy serving, Ditto for Saturday. Sunday I missed the mark - short 1 Dairy, 1 Veg... Mexican food probably wasn't the best choice, but it was soooo good. I did better at planning ahead today. My lunchbox (includes breakfast too) will get me all my Dairy, Fruit, and Veg. The Meat and Grains won't be a problem to get in at dinner tonight.

I'm solving my Veg/Dairy problem by bringing cut up veggies and dip made with Greek yogurt and Ranch mix. Yum!! Oh, and sugar-free Jello pudding. Puddddinnnnggggg counts as a Dairy serving. SCORE

Goal is to lose 15 more pound in the next ten weeks. Goal for this week is 1.5 pounds.

Re: Biggest Junkie Looser - 6 week challenge

Last week was really tough for me since I was stressed at work and at home.  I didn't really think my workouts were that effective since I worked at least nine hours and was pretty tired.  My Mom fell and hurt her back (she had back surgery about five years ago) and I ended up taking her to the emergency room one night since she was in a lot of pain.  Good news is x-rays haven't shown anything wrong, bad news is she is still in pain and all they want to do is drug her up.   Actually was surprised, I managed a 2 pound loss for the week.  Then again, when I'm stressed my stomach gets in knots and I even if all I'm eating is chocolate, it still isn't enough to cause a gain.

Re: Biggest Junkie Looser - 6 week challenge

I'm still fighting with my migraine/blood pressure issue. Had 3 mingraines in less than a week. Not good for the appetite and not good for getting any exercise. The Doc is still tinkering with my meds. I really can't workout until that gets fixed, so that's depressing. I probably gained this week, so that's depressing... and Im getting laid off at the end of the month -- so THAT's depressing too. Ugh. I have had a good deal of success on my weekly challenge. I repeated Week 1 and have been really concentrating on getting all my servings of each food group in each day. It's really a LOT of food, I just have to be mindful in what I pick. Tomorrow is weigh-in and the start of a new week. Let's all just hang in there... next week has GOT to be better.

Re: Biggest Junkie Looser - 6 week challenge

I didn't even weigh myself this week, I know I'm up. But I'm sticking to my goal of writing everything down. Did I really drink that much wine last night?? I really want to get bak to working out, but I feel so crappy every afternoon and my BP is still too high. Going back to the doctor next week if this isn't better.
Enough about me -- you did great! You should pick out something to reward yourself when you get to 10 lbs (I like to go shoe shopping for my rewards)

Re: Biggest Junkie Looser - 6 week challenge

It was yummy and the ride to work today was long, wet, and crap-tatic! But I wrote it down and I ate much better the rest of the day. Going to a new doc tomorrow about the Blood Pressure. I am hopeful that he can help me get back on track and back to the gym. I was feeling really. really down Friday and Saturday, but better today. It's good to have a plan.

Re: Biggest Junkie Looser - 6 week challenge

sadly, I've fallen off the workout wagon over the last couple of weeks.  Turns out there's some sort of bug floating around the office that decided to make me it’s bitch.  It’s not so much that it makes you sick sick, but more so that it makes you feel like you’ve been flogged with a bag of oranges for hours on end.  Damn thing seems to last for a couple weeks and I’m currently sitting at about a week and a half.

Starting to feel better, so here's hoping I can get myself back in gear come the first part of April.
