Considering the reason I am present here is because I listen to a podcast author that insists on calling me a "pussy" in his warning introduction to each episode, this question seems kinda mute.

Never mind that there is a "F**K YES" and a "F**K NO" blog that our beloved FDO posts to.

Point of clarification - imho, swearing isn't offensive here. That being said, if someone were to swear in order to flame someone on the board then I'm not cool with that.  I know that can be kinda gray in these online lives we live, but I think the people here have been pretty adult about it all and ocnsidering there isn't a ton of moderation going on around here, it's pretty admirable. 

Oh and also, for the record...I'm totally ok with the FDO calling the audience pussies in his intro. 

I think if you where running around and posting filth filled post that people would have a legitamite  problem. I myself have never been offended by you or anyone else on here. And I would let these people know " I appreciate your criticism fuck you very much!"

So I guess I wasn't offended. And if there are any youngsters on the boards, then they've already heard the "bad language" in the podcasts....Parents should know where their kids are going on the web. I wouldn't mind my 15 yo being on this site, but the 11 yo is not allowed.

That said, I agree that if you are using for emphasis or just conversationally, that's ok. But don't be calling people names, expecially the "c-word" 

(Once slapped my best friend's boyfriend for calling me that... it felt good.)

I'm TOTALLY kidding about that. Lets be real here folks, little kids should not be coming to this site, nor should they be reading Scott's work. With the exception of The Rookie (which is written in a "young adult" format, as was pointed out to me recently), all of our FDO's print novels are decidedly adult in nature. Without exception all of the podcasts are intended for adults. WE are adults.

I would not drop the f-bomb or any other swear word while strolling down Main Street in Disneyland, but this ain't Disneyland folks. As a matter of fact, this is pretty much the anti-Disneyland. Gen. Siglerisimo talks about people getting ripped apart, about folks being cooked and eaten while their comrades watch, and about ex-college football linebackers shooting 7-year old girls in the face with a .45. Mickey and Goofy wouldn't last five minutes in the Siglerverse.

I am not offended..and I love colorful language..sometimes only certain swear words or other colorfull expessions can convey the mood!
It should all be in good spirits, no personal attacks or real evil mean attitudes allowed...
I just have to remember that the kids know lots more bad words that I do....

There are several participants in the forums who I have no clue what they look like (or much of anything about them). You and MuchAdo both spring to mind. I don't think either of you has ever used a real pic as your avatar.

I'm not necessarily saying you should (although Scott does prefer it), but it does make my mental image of who I'm conversing with a bit more ambiguous. The recent incident with Cobrastarship is a good example of what can happen sometimes. Everyone assumed she was a he for a few days until she logged back on and berated (okay, that's a bit of hyperbole) us for it. How were we to know?
