The novel is by John Steakley.  It's quite a bit different than the book, but the story goes that Carpenter was going to do a movie more inline with the source material before the studio stumpfucked his budget.

Either way, I dig what he put out.

Catching up on Game of Thrones. It's pretty good but like most of my favorite books turned movie or tv series it doesn't live up to the actual books.

Started watching the BBC series on Netflix watch instantly.  I have a few mixed feelings on a few things, but overall I'm enjoying it!

I started watching this one (also on Netflix Watch Instantly) with Maeve.  I so LOVED this show when it was originally on!  I'm psyched Maeve is enjoying it so much now. I suspected she would get hooked quickly with the ingenuity and inventiveness.  Though she does not agree that Richard Dean Anderson was definitely HAWT in that show.  In fact, her precise words were: "Eewwwwww!!!!!!"

I am a little concerned though at some of her comments and observations.  For example, she has repeatedly asked if, given the opportunity to find the same materials and components, she could also make said bomb or flammable device, etc.  She also is now keenly hooked on the idea of starting a garden when we buy a house.  Not so much for the garden, but for what she has so recently learned about fertilizer.

Heck yeah, a great book by John Steakley. Armor by same was even better!

Stumpfucking happens to good books every time... Something for FDO to deal with sooner or later. Imagine a story like Ancestor on the big screen with fuzzy PG-13 Ancestors, an unnecessary car chase thrown in, exploding plywood buildings and a happy ending.
