Haven't games for what seems like decades... I miss it....

I am still toying with the idea to run Earthcore as a D&D 4 adventure.

A highly competent group of dwarven miners discovers a giant depot of valuable metal.

Some  overly cautious sponsor of said dwarves doesn't want to risk that someone else ambushes and robs the miners so they hire a group of adventurers. 

Once the adventurer group arrives some tunnels have already been blocked/condemned as the death count mining there is too high and it still rises as Kruthik (check out MM p. 170)  try to destroy the whole camp.

Any other encounters I should put in?

Do not mention that blasphemous excuse for D&D on the boards of the FDO.  I dont know what it is about 4th that I just can't make myself like it.  I just finally understand 3.5 enough to not have to check the book for everything, and now new rules, and no frelling gnomes! anyways, i would deffinitely play around with illithids.  I think it was MM 5 from 3.5 that was all about ilithids and their dimension ships and all that.  I dont have 4 MM so i dunno if Kruthik are similar or more close to rocktopi.  If they are in 3.5 manual then im just a D&D tard.

Unisystem (Classic or lite) might also be a good fit for the FDOs work.

I cose D&D 4 because I promised some people to introduce them to the new version of the system, so what better inspiration than Earthcore?

I'll let you know in this thread how my plans on a one shot (lasting about 3-4 hours) is going.

It certainly won't be the whole story of Earthcore but something inspired by it.

a friend of mine (who introduced me to Sigler's work) is running a Bab 5 game where I've been playing B.W. Crites, seeing as how he and I tend to both swear quite creatively.

I recommend y'all go see if there are some others who are interested in playing lurking over there (assuming you're not the same posters maintaining duplicate threads ). I know there was a gent/lady who was developing a system for Sigler RPGing hanging out in that thread.
