i checked on my friend and he was fine it turns out he had recent ly heard it and is persistently trying to scare me shitless

I finished this on the way home from work today. Have to say I was disappointed that the fabled snipe was a meerkat. I would have worked it to be a shapeshifter with telekinetic properties, that tricks people into thinking they did NOT see anything, thus how it stays hidden for centuries. Flaw in the story is that no way lil' pistol toting meerkats are killing people that see them, and they constantly go undetected. Needed some p-a-r-a-n-o-r-m-a-l aspect to pull it together.
