CONTAGIOUS paperback covers: English and German

The Plaid Tanks™ continue to roll across the globe, now re-conquering Germany and America. Yes, I’ve conquered both of these countries before, but any good despot mounts a second offensive to cause additional casualties and wipe out the last elements of resistance.

The German paperback of CONTAGIOUS (titled "VIRULENT") is on the right, and the US paperback of CONTAGIOUS is on the left. Awww, snap … does that US cover say "The New York Times Bestseller?" Fuck yes it does. And thanks to Junkie jgerhold for pointing out that the German version was up on Amazon.de.

Yessss … world domination well under way …

Glad you liked the book, Sven. I don’t have any info on Dutch release dates for CONTAGIOUS, but I’ll post the info here when and if I find it (for reference, I had no idea the Dutch version had actually hit stores, so there you go).

    Not sure why either

but I can tell you, from someone who likes to collect first printing/first editions, it is a lot easier to pick through books on ebay, etc. when there are different covers for the different countries.  Like the guy who tried to pass of the, German I think, copy of earthcore as a english copy.

    excellent question

why does that happen with every book? I know that with Harry Potter, not only was there a different cover UK vs. US but that in the UK they had an adult Cover as well. is this something to do with the country itself?

not that i don’t like the german cover…

…but why does every country have a different kind of cover and not just the cover for the us version. i mean isn’t that the cover that Scott chose.

[1st Dutch junkie] All that matters is getting my fix.

    I claim ignorance!

I don’t speak German, so really have no idea what the hell is going on. Well, not that that has anything to do with speaking German, I usually don’t know what the hell is going on (just ask Gmork, the Wiki Mastapimp).

I do have to say, though, that the German publishers (Heyne) are super cool. We’re selling a LOT of copies in Germany and I think they’re excited for the in-store release of VIRULENT.

  13. Gmork

    :)

No worries, bustin’ your balls cause there are so few opportunities to do it. Innocent

    Awww, fuck.

Dammit. Nothing like annoying the most awesome Wiki Mastapimp on the planet. Sorry ’bout that, doing two book deadlines at once with ANCESTOR and THE ROOKIE. Yeah, I’m a little fried.

    *ahem*

Am I not your biggest Junkie?  Did I not break the news on the German cover before the FDO had the chance?  Hell yes I did! Proof that the FDO had *way* too much fun at Balticonwink

Congrats on the releases, Scott.  Hope those bitches sell like hotcakes overseas.  Imagine that…you could be like the author version of David Hasselhoff!!

    It feels awesome!

It kind of hit me today, when I loaded up the German and US Paperback versions, then looked at the site and saw those along with the Greek and French versions. I though, "holy shit, it really happened."

INFECTED is now in over a dozen languages worldwide. And people still say giving away your content for free doesn’t work.

  18. Shadygirl

    Okay Scott,

How incredibly awesome does it feel to see that on the cover of your book?

    Now we will have to…

get our hands on the German version.

I pitched restraints for the US cover

We tried to do that for the US cover, but opted with the mask instead. Both looked very cool. Glad to see ze Germans kicked out the jams for this. Also, the people over at Heyne, the German publisher, are awesome.
