As such, TUESDAY TERROR is on a temporary hiatus while Arioch focuses on producing THE ALL PRO audiobook. Please continue writing those great stories and sending them to him at arioch@scottsigler.com. We'd love to have a queue backlogged for when we start up again. |

Click here to pre-order NOCTURNAL in hardcover Awwwww, snap! NOCTURNAL, (a.k.a. "The Mother of All Monsters") is avaialble for pre-order from Amazon. Yes, we will update you on the other vendors as they make the book available, but right now it's only on Amazon. It's so new, we don't even have cover art yet. "Scott, should we buy in stores or pre-order now?" Pre-order now, either from Amazon or from your local store, because pre-ordering now is the best way to show your support. With ANCESTOR, we worked very hard to drive traffic into stores on the day of release, and we got screwed for it when the book wasn't on shelves or hadn't arrived at all. I do not believe in wasting my fans' time, so just pre-order it and be done with it. "Scott, I want to order from [insert non-Amazon vendor here]." All good in the hood, my Junkies. Pre-order from wherever you like. "Scott, I want to pre-order an autographed copy!" Then email Borderlands Books in San Francisco, or call them at 415-824-8203. "But Scott, I already heard the podcast and don't need to buy this hunka-burnin'-love." WRONG! the NOCTURNAL podcast was a first draft. I've re-written it from top to bottom. Bryan, Pookie, Robin and Rex are back, for shizzle, but it is a completely different book with a new ending. |
I have to admit, the recent uproar over Netflix raising it's rates had me wondering if I had missed something. They raised their rates?!?! OMG!! So, this is funny to me.
Click here to vote for THE ROOKIE
Amazon is having an "Essential YA Reader List" contest. Time to see if the Junkie Nation can flex a little muscle and see if we have the juice to get THE ROOKIE all up on that sucka. You can win ten YA books (listed below). Only takes a few seconds, and I'm curious if we have enough numbers to make Amazon take notice of the lil' book we all created together.
Prizes. Amazon will award a total of 10 prizes, each consisting of a prize package containing the following 10 books:
- Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson (paperback) (ARV $9.99);
- Monster by Walter Dean Myers (paperback) (ARV $8.99);
- The Giver by Lois Lowry (paperback) (ARV $8.95);
- The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie (paperback) (ARV $7.19);
- The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (paperback) (ARV $7.79);

- Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher (paperback) (ARV $6.46)
- The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials, Book 1) by Philip Pullman (paperback) (ARV $10.16).
Last week we learned that six of the original episodes from THE CRYPT: BOOK ONE were missing from Podiobooks.com. Arioch Morningstar (Junkie name "Sadock") worked wtih Evo Terra at Podiobooks to get them bad boys where they need to be. Here's what we added to that feed:
- Major Anne Lafferty
- Lt. Mac "Stone Balls" Cooley
- Sgt. Shonda "Peace Sign" Bible
- Chief Bronson McLean Part 1
- Chief Bronson McLean Part 2
- Hamzah Haring
If you missed these episodes or haven't listened at all, swing over to podiobooks.com to get this free audiobook.

Okay, I'm sold on Comic-Con. ARealGirl and I were having a nice little Junkie meet-up at Players Sports Bar in San Diego. People start coming into the bar loaded with George RR Martin books -- turns out he's doing a signing at Mysterious Galaxy Books in the same strip mall. I've done a few signings at Mysterious Galaxy (a rockin' store), so we zipped on over. I got my book signed and got to say "hi." Last time I met George was seven years ago. I was unpublished and on a panel with him. So much has changed since then. He has copies of THE ROOKIE and THE STARTER, but I don't think he's read them yet (thanks to BigJohn for making that connection).
Quite a thrill to shake the man's hand, I'm a big fan. So, sold on Comic-Con! I'll be back next year.

[img_assist|nid=5343|title=Light 'em up, Dew!|desc=A bit of art from Chad Minshew's INFECTED graphic novel|link=node|align=right|width=350|height=314]ARealGirl and I are hitting Comic-Con to blow off some steam and geek out. We've basically been under deadlines for a year straight, and we're finally caught up (at least we will be until NOCTURNAL edits come back from Tha Shiv). With THE ALL-PRO off to the printer, NOCTURNAL with the editor, we have a rare window to just be nerds and enjoy what Comic-Con is all about. So, of course, while I'm here I'll be trying to line up contacts and deals. I'm stupid like that. I'm going to try and make contacts for the INFECTED graphic novel, done by Chad Minshew and his crew of Ass-Kicking Comic Cyborgs. This is "Comic" Con, after all, and all the comic houses are represented. Maybe I can flash some art (that's "art," not my naked body, you pervs) and see if we can move it toward production. My Secret Project Screenplay is finished, and a production company is seeking funding as of yesterday. I can't give details about it yet, but it is an original concept and not taken from any of the books or stories. |

This one was sent to me by James E. Morr. Thanks, James! Click here to read the article in the The Telegraph. Pigs could grow human organs in stem cell breakthroughHuman organs could be grown inside pigs for use in transplant operations following research using stem cells.Well, if you read ANCESTOR you know how this turned out in Greenland ... Scientists are working on an exciting new method for growing human organs inside of pigs. This concept takes the science in ANCESTOR a step further -- they aren't growing human-compatible organs in the animal, they are growing human organs in the animal. They genetically engineer an animal so it can not grow particular internal organs. Then, they insert stem cells from the target species, and these stem cells grow into the missing organ, working normally inside the host animal. Whaaaa? Yeah, pretty fucked-up. This is still pretty theoretical as far as my layman's knowledge goes. Even if they can grow organs for large animals, you're still looking at the obstacle of the immune response -- which is the primary reason we can't put pig hearts into people now. As I understand it, pig hearts will work, but our immune system beats the shit out of them (yes, that's a scientific term). Fascinating stuff. | ![]() |

Click here to listen to Hunter Hunterson & the $15 burger This week we've got a sweet little snippet from SigerFest featuring the newest hero in the Siglerverse, Hunter Hunterson. This is special in a few ways: First, we get to meet more of Hunter's family, all of 'em monster hunters. Next, it's a full-cast recording featuring your fellow Junkies as the cast. Last, it's a full-cast recording featuring your fellow Junkies as the cast. Cast:
Special thanks, again, to Arioch Morningstar and his cool recording gadget. He made a special effort to record (and later edit) much of SiglerFest, which is why we've got it to share will y'all today. Production note: The story ends rather abruptly here, without crowd noise or applause. This is due to a glitch on my end that kept corrupting the file. Trust me, I clipped out THUNDEROUS applause. I expect you to add your own here. Housekeeping note, again: We're gearing up for a new Goreline soon. If you want to hear your voice on the show, call 206-666-4673, or email an MP3 to media@scottsigler.com. |
[img_assist|nid=5194|title=Thank you, servicepeople|desc=We appreciate everything you do|link=none|align=right|width=350|height=232]On this 4th of July, we want to give a heartfelt "thanks" to the soldiers, their families and all the support staff that contribute to the US Military. Everyone at Dark Øverlord Media appreciates your service, dedication and sacrifice.
Independence Day is a wonderful celebration for Americans. We have that independence due to the work of our military. So while this day isn't specifically about soldiers, we sure as hell are thankful for you and just love the crap outta ya.
As for you International Junkies? If you want to celebrate in solidarity, you should get a) a hot dog; b) some apple pie, and c) An M1 Abrams tank and/or a sparkler.
I don't know anything about this guy's books or his music. I'm not sure I have to know -- just look at the rawk contained in this trailer. \m/ \m/

THE STARTER shipping? Isn't that almost a year ago? Why wait so long? Well, Junkies, we've been busy. We're thisclose to putting THE ALL-PRO to bed, and I really can't wait for y'all to read it. (And seriously? Wait until you see the color insert.) So we're starting to plan for shipping, and that made me think it was time to break out this little gem. I'll also share that this is one of the FDO™ most favorite video bits we've done. Perhaps it's the Benny Hill-esque music, perhaps it's that this is proof positive THE STARTER shipping is a thing of the past. In any case, he loves it. Here's hoping y'all do too. Click here to order THE ROOKIE, THE STARTER and/or THE ALL-PRO |

This was Tweeted to me by David Kirby (@dkirby7).
So, if you thought the Church of Quentin Barnes was far-fetched, put this in your pipe and smoke it. A church dedicated to Diego Maradona, Argentinian soccer hero who helped his country win a World Cup. Maybe the Sklorno don't sound so "alien" now, eh?
Soccer-Mad Church Worships Diego Maradona as a God
For many in Argentina, soccer is almost a religion. For a few, it is exactly that.
Argentina is home to a religious movement called the Maradonian Church which venerates former soccer player Diego Armando Maradona as a god.
Founded by three men, Hernán Amez, Alejandro Verón and Héctor Campomar, in 2001 in the city of Rosario,186 miles from Buenos Aires, the Maradonian Church now claims 200,000 followers, enrolled online on the official Church website, from countries around the world like the U.S., Mexico, Spain, Afghanistan, Philippines and Australia.
Fun article from the Daily Mail UK. Scientists have decoded a gladiator's gravestone, and the gladiator's family blames his death on ... you guessed it ... the refs! Stupid zebes have been a pain in athletes' collective asses for millenia, it seems.
Gladiator refs were known as "suma ridis." Check out this excerpt from the article:
Written from the gladiator's own perspective, it reads: 'After breaking my opponent Demetrius, I did not kill him immediately. Fate and the cunning treachery of the summa rudis killed me.'
Fuckin' refs!
Finally got out to see this flick. As usual, I assumed all the naysayer reviewers just had a stick up their know-it-all asses, but turns out the movie didn't do much for me, either.
The performances were solid, there were funny parts, but it just didn't have the zip of the original.HANGOVER was written by Jon Lucas, Scott Moore. Part II was written by Craig Mazin, Scot Armstrong and director Todd Phillips. Really makes you wonder why Hollywood would fuck with such a successful combination of writers, director and actor.
HANGOVER II had the highest-ever grossing first week for a comedy with $205 million. That led the studios to hire Mazin again to write the screenplay for HANGOVER III, which is already in the words. This kind of thing is mystifying to me. Clearly, the opening week bonanza came because HANGOVER I was so damn good, and people wanted more -- it had nothing to do with the writing of Mazin and Armstrong. Yet they are bringing Mazin back instead of Lucas & Moore for the third.
I'll go on record to say that HANGOVER III will gross half of what HANGOVER II made. All those people who paid big bucks to see Part II on opening weekend aren't going to be beating down the box office door to see Part III.
I know I'll wait for Part III to come out on DVD, if I watch it at all.
I just started watching this series. I accidentally caught three episodes of Season Two during a JUSTIFIED marathon, and got a bit hooked. Now that THE ALL-PRO is off to the Diva of Design for layout, I had time to watch the first two episodes of Season One. Not bad, but not great -- I have a feeling the series hits its stride midway through Season One?
Olyphant is pretty good. You close your eyes and think he's some 55-year-old sherrif from the late 1800s, which is a different take on an action hero. Very Clint Eastwood.
The guy that has me hooked on the show, however, is Walter Goggins, who plays Boyd Crowder. That dude is nails. I know he sticks around because I've seen him in Season Two.
Feel free to talk about JUSTIFIED, but NO EFFING SPOILERS!
