Washington, D.C. closes Stank Tour with 105 junkies
We closed out the Sigler Stank II book tour in style with the Washington, D.C. installment. Over 105 Junkies came out and partied (it's "over" 105 because one woman was pregnant, which counts as a half-Junkie.)
Thanks to all of you who came out for the eleven city swing. I had an amazing time meetin' & greetin' and drinkin' with all of you. I got many emails and Tweets from people who couldn't quite make it out, and those were appreciated as well -- will catch you next time around.
Looking at December 2009 for the next installment, and I hope to kick it up to fifteen cities or possibly even more. I am now heading home to go the hell to sleep. More stories coming soon.

Fun time in DC
Fantastic time in DC.
Great questions from the audience and great answers from the FDO. Very interesting stuff. I wish I could have stayed for the pub crawl afterward but I had to get back to the kiddies. Can't wait for the next visit. Thanks again!

He can come to Toronto next time around. It's a quick flight from Detroit or New York or Buffalo or Cleveland. He's bound to wind up in one of those places at some point.

There was this guy dressed
There was this guy dressed in a suit who had come to the signing thinking it was the Jimmy Carter signing (which was planned for the following week) so he thought he would try out the guy scheduled for that day. He came and sat down with us and asked us a little bit about the book. We explained it was a horror novel and the second in the series, that is had a lot of gore and was VERY VERY good.
He stayed for a little while but was listening to our conversations, he was confused about all the podcast talk (there were a lot of podcasters there) and was asking about that. We told him and he seemed a little confused but stayed, then he opened the book and was reading the inside pages and looks up, "What does FDO mean?" he says.
"Future Dark Overlord," We all reply.
He is a little confused again and we explain it is a thing with the junkies, then we have to explain junkies. At some point he did let us know he worked for the government (not shocking based on his appearance)
Then he asks what we are talking about when we are talking about getting over 78 people there to be killed. We explain the contest, how the city with the most people coming will get destroyed in a short story and all who attended will be killed by name in the story.
It was about that time he decided to get up and leave. We urged him to at least buy the paperback Infected and give it a read, that he would be glad he did.
I am guessing the whole "lets destory" DC thing is what tipped him over the edge, working for the government and all :)

No one showed up to see Mur Lafferty or Tee Morris or Christianna Ellis or Phil Rossi or any one else, everyone showed up for the FDO. Mur, Tee, Phil, Christiana, Earl Newton, everyone was there for Scott, they are fans just as much as anyone else :)
It was a podcasting who's who but there was quite a few podcasters at the other stops (like in NYC, loads there too)
Don't worry Dallas, you have a chance to try again next year :P

Bottom line. DC won... DC gets screwed up the poop shoot. It's a warm body thing. Scott even said at one of the stops that you could go out into the street and bring in complete strangers... I don't give a rat's rumproast why they were there.
As for Dallas... You're numbers were good. Houston's numbers were good. Put them together, and we would have given DC a real run for it's money... But all y'all Texas Junkies voted for two different cities... Two stops... separate numbers for each and no amount of whining is gonna make a damn bit of difference. I know all about the whining... I was there.
So what to do now? Maybe next time, you should pick a city in Texas to vote for... Make a big old party out of it. I don't really care. There. I've had my say... I'm just glad Gmork gets her chance to die...

Now with regards to Texas - Houston actually won one of the original events, Dallas did not win one of the original events!!!! Therefore when the Dallas event was added as one of the extra out of Sigler's pocket, it did take away from the Houston event. Those are just the "Facts Ma'am". None-the-less, DC won and that is that.
