Junkies, the ROOKIE Tailgate Tour was terrific.  Thanks to everyone who came out.  24 cities, 10,783, 678 Junkies, over 400 books & 250 tees.

And, in reponse to the many requests, we're putting the ROOKIE Tailgate Tour "Property of Krakens" tees on-sale here on the site. These are updated to include the new tour dates, but otherwise the same as the tees we sold at the earlier tour stops. (Read also: they are suh-weet!) Please click the link below to snag your very own.

March 4, 2010 update:  If you want a Tailgate Tour tee, don't delay.  We've got fewer than 60 remaining, and won't be doing another print run once they're gone!

I know about money being tight.

  • And I am working on getting work to pay for me to go to SF in April too.
  •

Kinda thought the Evil Queen might like to see Mickey World though.

Jax is at least a 3 hour drive one way, Talahassee much longer.  I'm thinking that scheduling Jax and Tallahassee back to back on susequent days might be ambitious.

Anyway, best I can do right now is put me down for a maybe in Jax.  (But if I come Mrs Mycroft will come too)

    NYC!!

Ok, come together NJ and NY. Put aside your differences for the FDO. :)

What it looks like is that

What it looks like is that FDO is hitting all the towns with NFL franchises...which STILL makes me go WTF that DC is not on that list.

    All about the route...

I understand the desire to get to specific towns, but have to max out the time driving, due to the whole 20-cities-in-24-days thing.  The route that's been suggested here keeps me almost always moving towards the next destination, while still hitting big football towns.

Cost-effective, theme-appropriate, and minimizes the drive time for the approximately 4000 miles I'll be driving during that time.

Tried to get the plane from NYC to Jacksonville to detour in DC

...but the dang airline said something about a schedule.  Since DC will close out the ANCESTOR tour (I hope) it seemed fair to give some other towns a shot.

    I Must Say...

This thread has served to bring a bunch of people out of the woodwork... there are lots of regulars, but there are also a bunch of peeps that don't regularly post, 5-7 anyway. Stick around, non-regulars! Its painless after a while, trust me.

sounds awesome. closest to me is NY, but that would require some major planning on my end. if foxboro (home of the Pat's) gets in there somehow it would be a definite.

    Dallas and Norman!

Dude, we will be doing both. Likely only a 2.5 hour drive. Let me know if you need a place to crash - in either place.

    Birmingham - I'm there

If you stop in Birmingham, I'll be there - even on a Monday night (MNF dude) and hour away and a full load of classes to teach the next day. Since I had to move away from Chicago last fall, I never believed the FDO would come close enough for me to bask in his glory. Hell ya, Sig, you da man!!!!!!!!!

I now officially hate school much more than usual...

Would've probably been able to make it to the Chicago signing, but alas, I have school, so therefore I will not be able to attend. Oh well, I just feel sorry for the teachers that are unlucky enough to cross my path during that time period.

Come On! Stupid Lack of Transportation!

It seems to me like the only one I could go to is the Chicago stop. Maybe I could get my friends to become indoctrinated enough to give me a ride. Being able to do this would be a great 21st birthday present.

Hi Scott. How about personally signing the copies of the rookie that people pre-ordered, maybe rewarding those who were in on the game early?

Places to get services along the way

Scott. Here are some links to the major truckstops along the way. They offer good clean showers, good food, and some have service departments, too. Flying J truckstops: http://www.flyingj.com/gasprices You can use this one from your mobile device Petro Stopping Centers: http://www.petrotruckstops.com/fuel_search.sstg Works on mobile deices, too Pilot Travel Centers: http://www.pilotcorp.com/Locations/Travel_Centers/Complete_Pricing_List.aspx Travel Centers of America (T/A): http://www.tatravelcenters.com/Content/DieselPrices.aspx?page_id=200 This one is for diesel prices, but has all the locations listed. The page for gasoline does not. I hope this helps you on the tour as far as finding services along the way. As far as comitting to a specific location, Sorry, bud. I'm on tour, too. When our paths cross, there will be much celebrating done. Brian, OJ600 the trucker from Manitoba... just a stones throw fron Genada world headquarters.
