It's all over! It's all over! We stamped, numbered, signed and inscribed 1,500 copies of THE STARTER for all y'all, and our work here is complete. The big-ass postal truck came yesterday to take away THE STARTER pre-orders. We're happy as drunken clams. Yes, you can still order by clicking here. From upper-left: FDO™ signs the very last pre-order; the guys from BackMyBooks.com stopped by to help pack a crap-load of books; Master Yoda stopped by to answer questions (he was a little sozzled from his trip to the Caymans), and the Big-Ass Postal Truck of Døøm took away all y'all's copies. Everyone should have their copy by the end of the week. Probably. Enjoy! Tropical Storm Hermine...
My copy arrived in the middle of tropical storm Hermine here in San Antonio. I lost power for two days, and a section of roof from my house, but the packing kept the book safe and dry until I could rescue it from my mailbox.
Well...
... as long as your book was safe, I guess a roof is of little importance?
Seriously, are you OK otherwise? Insured, roof not leaking onto your bed, that sort of thing?

Everything is cool, and i've already fixed the roof. Luckily the storm just pulled off shingles, and left the felt paper and plywood beneath intact. So I spent a few hours on the roof with a buddy and a hundred fifty bucks worth of shingles to get everything fixed up. It would probably take longer, and cost me more in the long run if I claimed this on my insurance, but thankfully shingles are a pretty easy fix on my one story house with a shallow pitched roof. I came off a lot luckier than a few people in the area that ended up with trees on their houses and cars. Still, it was quite unnerving to look out my livingroom window during the storm and watch bunches of shingles landing all over my front yard.
