That's right, in the first week of release, CONTAGIOUS hit #33. The hardcover fiction list is like the Super Bowl of bestseller lists, it's the big-time, and even #33 is a pretty damn big accomplishment.
From this moment on, and for the rest of my life, I get to say "New York Times Bestselling Author Scott Sigler." Granted, I'm used to hearing "will the defendant please rise" and this is way, way better.
This is all you guys. Thanks for your constant support, and thanks for rallying around a strong opening weekend for CONTAGIOUS. Next novel out, our goal will be to crack the top 15, but for now, nailing the Grey Lady feels just fiiiiiiine.

Glad I could help you out a little. Is there a special significance to the top 15? Usually it's top ten when referring to lists and such, but I typically ignore critics, bestseller lists etc. so I don't have a clue if the NYT list is different somehow.

The top 15...
The top 15 make it into mist magazines and websites that report the NYT Best Seller's list. Amazon.com, for example has a dedicated page to the NYT Best Seller's list but it only covers the top 15 books. Also Entertainment Weekly magazine reports the top 15 in each issue. Often times, the regurgitation of this top 15 list is what a large segment of the reading public looks to in order to find something new to read. So the level of expsoure expands exponentially if you can make it into the top 15.

I had to wait a bit, pre-ordered from B&N, then they had to delay shipment until Jan 2nd. Boo-hoo had to go out of town and didn't get my hands on it until Saturday. Bought it as a delayed Christmas gift for my anti-audio listening husband, but I've taken it over, he didn't have a chance. I still plan on listening to podcast cause you have to love how the FDO spins it all. Congrats Scott on making the NY best sellers list!Congrats! It's about time!
