That's right, in the first week of release, CONTAGIOUS hit #33. The hardcover fiction list is like the Super Bowl of bestseller lists, it's the big-time, and even #33 is a pretty damn big accomplishment.
From this moment on, and for the rest of my life, I get to say "New York Times Bestselling Author Scott Sigler." Granted, I'm used to hearing "will the defendant please rise" and this is way, way better.
This is all you guys. Thanks for your constant support, and thanks for rallying around a strong opening weekend for CONTAGIOUS. Next novel out, our goal will be to crack the top 15, but for now, nailing the Grey Lady feels just fiiiiiiine.

They said you couldn't sell songs without protections. iTunes is #1 in music sales in the world, and now no more DRM. They said you couldn't giveaway your novels. They said you can't be published until we anoint you. Well, you've shown them. Anoint yourself. When the Internet first became consumer friendly, everyone talked about the power to publish. "Now anyone could publish" by posting a web site. Web 2.0 pushed that. Podcasting pushed it more. You've pulled it all together, and you are demonstrating how the democratization of access to media over the Internet and the fact that the world is "flat" can be leveraged. Congratulations, Scott! Take a day to enjoy this major accomplishment, celebrate with the EQ, watch a little football, maybe torture a couple of small animals. Whatever makes you happy.
