Goddamn, a powerful ending.
Goddamn, a powerful ending. The last chapter ends on such a down note, truly this is the Empire Strikes Back of disease thriller/horror. Oh Scott please release the teaser prologue for Pandemic.Just you wait, rabbit ...
PANDEMIC is going to blow your doors off. And we're walking one of those six-door limo things, not like some two-door hatchback.Them bitches had to go ...
Honestly? I did not want to kill Dew and Perry. But the way the story played out, it had to happen. Just remember, in a Sigler story, no one is sacred, everyone is expendable, and sooner or later the shit's going to hit the fan.Book Three (PANDEMIC) is going to take some work
You've got that right, Walsfeo. A lot of work ahead of me. The biology research alone is at least three months worth -- it's going to get ugly. They were dead the second they planed the fishing trip...
They just didn't know it yet.
While it would have been possible to save 'em, it took balls (both yours and the ones Pery lost) to kill them off. Dew ended up being a great character, and I went from not giving a shit about Perry to really liking him as well. By ending it the way you did you stayed true to the way you built them up. Good job.
As an aside - I wonder what the triangles, or tri-angels, would do if the'd been locked onto a nocturnal.
Well at least

I knew you were sick... (spoilers)
...but GODDAMN!!! I was pissed when you killed Dew, but killing Perry makes me want to sharpen the chicken scissors and come find you, FDO or not. You think Annie Wilkes was bad? She's got nothing on a pissed off junkie. Great fuckin' story, Scott, I was on the edge of my seat until the end. Can't wait for Pandemic.it's over?

Which is worse? The Nuke or GM going Bankrupt?
Dude! Only you would nuke Detroit the day before GM declares bankruptcy. Awesome ending.I'm probably setting myself up for a heaping helping of abuse, but I've got to confess: I have not bought a copy of Contagious (yet). Honestly, Infected was my least favorite of your novels (even though I bought two copies the day it was available on Amazon). BUT, Contagious may just have passed the Rookie as my all time favorite Sigler novel. As the book went on I COULDN'T buy the book because I knew I wouldn't be able to keep from reading it.
Here is the thing that kept me from doing it. REGULAR, DEPENDABLE posts every Sunday. I'm not trying to give you any shit, because beggars can't be choosers, but knowing those posts would come every Sunday, made listening to this book SO NICE. When I think back to all the shit you were dealing with as you wrote this, it is just incredible that you are taking your game up to such a high level. I've loved every podcast novel that you've done, but I really wanted to give you props on Contagious...awesome, awesome, awesome work.
Keep it up, my man!
That's the breaks of the game
My goal is to drop something every Sunday, and now every Wednesday as well (Laughing in the Face of Death columns). Consistency is the key, and once in awhile that will cost me a sale most of the time it will result in more sales. So, you have nothing to apologize for, the choice is always with the customer.Nocturnals with triangles? Hmmmm ...
Maybe there's a short story in there somewhere. How, exactly, do you make the Nocturnals even more psycho?I hate it when
my profile pic gets cut off. It looks like I'm a little kid trying to see over the fence. Or some creepy neighbor trying to watch you while your sunbathing.
That's probably more accurate.

Great book Scott
Loved Contagious more than infected and that usually doesn't happen with sequels!

"About 15 seconds."
*Spoilers* (What the hell? Why would you even be reading these if you were afraid of spoilers?)
WOW. I was watching it come to a head and then, when the condom clad team abandoned the Margotmobile my preconceptions of how the story might play out were shredded. All these story threads then billowing in the wind like so many triangle tentacles... beautiful... lovely triangle... tentacles ...
*COUGH* What?
Oh. So... I was saying... Then the building with the hostages, I was thinking "Where's mommy?" From then on, "No, he's not gonna do it." "Oh shit, yes he is!"
My hat off to you sir for not disappointing or taking the easy way out with a nice, everyone high-fiving, hollywood ending.
FYI: (Oddly apt band name) http://www.margotandthenuclearsoandsos.com/
No easy way out
That's the committment I make to the story and the Junkies. No easy way out. If there's a happy ending, it's because that's where the story went and it's the logical conclusion to the characters' actions. No way out for Dew and Perry, sadly ...Make him hafta wait
for the next podcast to drop!!! That always makes me more psycho!
