That's right, Eastern Washington, the team that plays on the To Pirate's blood-red field, staged an amazing come-from-behind victory over Delaware to win the FCS Championship. I'm still not sure what "FCS" is, it's a step down from the BCS, which used to be called "Division 1." When you're a fucking corporate money-hungry organization that rips off hard-working college kids like the BCS, you kind of want to obfuscate your name at every opportunity, so it makes sense in a fucked-up corporate money-hungry way.

Now THAT is a comeback.
Pretty impressive!

Ugh
Delaware is my alma mater. Pain...that's what this game was. Absolute fucking pain.
My hubbie flew to Texas with a buddy to watch the game while my dog and I watched the slaughter from home. Fucking shame. Delaware had an incredible first half and then the ship fucking sank. Now I'm gonna go drink to relieve the pain....again.
No way!
Sorry to hear you lost out on the final game, but congrats on your alma mater's amazing season.
FCS=Football Championship Subdivision
Their "tag" line? Where championships are earned, not given. Love the little dig on the BCS.
What kills us, doesn't make us stronger.
At least...
...it was on neutral territory. That red field is unsettling. I'd be interested to know if the Eastern Washington field or the all-blue Boise field are distracting for their opponents. Talk about home field advantage!
It has to have some impact
Field conditions matter, and getting used to home field matters. I'm sure people acclimate, but an all-red or all-blue field is going to be a distraction to some extent.
EWU didn't lose a home game all season
and since they were seeded #1 they played at home throughout the playoffs until the finals. But then again they only lost two all season (Nevada & MT. State).
