3 from the List.
That's a great list, Scott. Nice to hear Neil Marshall get a mention. I loved Dog Soldiers, and The Descent, though you're right about Doomsday - it was a stinker. My top 3 of the cotemporary films you listed - in order of preference - would be: Sean of The Dead, 28 Days Later, and then Dog Soldiers.
Did you see the sequel to 28 Days Later? If you haven't, I wouldn't bother. It was a huge dissappointment.
Danny Boyle
Yo, FDO. You forgot about "Sunshine." Which I really really liked. BTW, Mike, I LIKED 28 Weeks Later. Phththt.

I concur!
I also liked 28 Weeks Later... almost more than the original at first. But I like them both equally now - can't have one without the other!

Another good list
There were a bunch of movies in this episode that I haven't seen yet. I've seen bits and pieces of Dog Soldiers at Halloween parties, and its on my "must see" list.
Thanks for mentioning Bernard Rose and Clive Barker. Paper House can be hard to find, but its worth watching. Candyman and Hellraiser would be on my horror top ten if I had one.
Australian horror is also amazing. "Not Quite Hollywood" is a documentary that covers Australia's B movie era. It devotes large amount of time to horror.
When I watched "Not Quite Hollywood", I wrote down the ingredients for low budget movie chunder. (I like to collect recipes for cheap movie effects. I never know when I might need them.)
Ingredients for low budget chunder: Potato Salad, Corn Soup, Pea Soup, Fruit Salad, Fizzy Lemonade, and Tomato

Doomsday and other Carpocalypse movies
Doomsday came and went before I had a chance to see it. I guess I didn't miss out on much. The casting on Doomsday was unbelievable: Bob Hoskins, Malcolm McDowell, and Sean Pertwee.
After Mad Max, most car/apocalyptic movies have sucked more than the mpg on a vintage muscle car. As a fan of the classic tabletop game Car Wars, I was looking forward to the Death Race remake. My hope died faster than a Car Wars character (they usually don't live past 6 seconds).

A little plug...
Just wanted to plug the sponsor of this podcast, Surly-Ramics. I've purcased a pendant from this artist and not only was a beautiful handmade piece but it was also packaged so beautifully it was fit to give as a gift. Surly-ramics has a huge selection of handmade ceramic jewelry that's good for the girls as well as the guys. I only wish I had Sigler's damn 15% off code when I purchased my pendant!! Oh, well...good excuse to purchase again. Kudos fpr supporting independent artists, Sigler!

I love the name
I'll have to take a look when I get a few $$. Surly -- yeah, I can do that.

Gotta get my Netflix back
I had let it lapse, but now I keep getting all these movies suggested. For some reason I'm a much bigger fan of horror fiction than horror movies. The Big Guy likes the horror movies, so he'll be all over this list. Agree on Descent and 28 Days Later. And Ridley Scott -- he's a genius.

I didn't know the Ø
Was for null set, I thought it was the Danish letter! I feel so silly. Guess my math inadequacies are showing.

Smart stuff
I thought it was both but I had to look it up on wikipedia. This disambiguation page confirms, it's both! Have a look-see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%98_%28disambiguation%29

You really should
I just got several pieces from her. I picked up a few for gifts and a couple for myself. Her work is beautiful and, like Gmork said, the packaging is great. I did not need to do anything to the gifts before giving them away. I have received a bunch of compliments on the ones I bought for myself. I will be buying more in the future.[flickr-photo:id=3710325452,size=m] and UNdead Grave Mother

Yes, we have used that to try to explain to the kids
That its much more likely that they misplaced something than that a burglar broke into the house and the only thing they stole was the bag of coins/homework/library book.
Occam wasn't buying that explanation either

Haven't caught SUNSHINE yet, is that horror?
I know I need to see it, but haven't landed that one yet.
The first 3/4 are excellent ...
... but once I found out who the bad guy was, it wasn't as exciting. But, yeah, horror, kinda similar plot to "The Thing." Isolated environment, people are getting killed ... worth watching.

Sunshine
To me, Sunshine had elements of Event Horizon and Solaris. I also liked the idea of "sunshine addiction". I'm not going to spoil anyone who hasn't seen it.

Sunshine
Is Sunshine horror? In my humble opinion, no. It's sci-fi.
(Sunshine) and ...
... Again, for me it was a huge disappointment. I didn't like it at all, sorry.
A British horror I did enjoy that I don't think was mentioned on this podcast was Dead Set. A 'fast' zombie TV mini series that used the Big Brother reality TV series as its backdrop. Loved it; bought the DVD, watched it, re-watched it, and will watch it over and over again ... until my wife makes me eat it.
I'll have to look out for that
Zombie reality TV? I could be talked into that.
Sunshine
Is sci-fi with horror. Basically very suspenseful science fiction which then turns extremely dark. I liked it a lot.
