NOCTURNAL Episode #26

The Savior’s house calls to Bryan, taunting him to enter, promising that questions … will … be … answered (if you watched LOST, trust that promise at your own risk, Bryan). Bryan’s decision could turn him from lawman to lawbreaker, something Pookie Chang is desperate to stop. Pookie races to Erickson’s, and has even called upon Black Mister Burns to help. Will Pookie and BMB get there in time?

Hey Junkie, whoop that supernatch ass!

The world of Hunter Hunterson in your hot little hands

So, you wanna pull a ticket on a methed-out, parole-jumping goblin? You want to stomp that undead ass? You want to whack a werewolf, mash a mage, destroy a devil, lay the smacketh-down on a sasquatch and more? Now you can (just remember to watch your privates if you square off against the rabid unicorns).

You and yours can play Storium, a cool new storytelling game that has one (of many) fictional settings in “Slayerville,” the hometown of Hunter Hunterson and his kin. Here’s how they list it on their site:

SLAYERVILLE — Beneath the main street of a small Kentucky mountain town is a crack from which the supernatural pours into our realm to prey upon the unknowing — or would pour, were it not for the monster-stompin’ clans of this tiny burg. Fight alongside the Huntersons, the Breakmouths, the Walkers, the Clampets, the Hatfields, the McCoys and the Crushers, families that have protected mankind for ten generations. Come to this land of JUSTIFIED meets GHOSTBUSTERS, put your shoes up, and sit a spell. (By New York Times best-seller Scott Sigler, author of Infected.)

This is a stretch goal for the Storium Kickstarter, which involves some of our best author buddies such as J.C. Hutchins, Mur Lafferty, Chuck Wendig and more. Check out their Kickstarter page here, and/or watch the video above that explains how the game works.

"Hippo" is a story in the anthology V-WARS: BLOOD & FIRE

Due out: August 5, 2014.
Pre-order from Amazon or Barnes & Nobles.

The second book in Jonathan Maberry’s V-WARS series, BLOOD & FIRE cranks up the carnage to “11,” thanks in no small part to my story “Hippo.” Yes, this is my first vampire story, and it’s unlike anything you’ve ever read. This delicious & twisted tale will leave you hungry for more (or sick to the stomach, really kind of depends on your tastes … ).

BOOK SYNOPSES:
It’s been one year since a virus triggered junk DNA and people all over the world started changing. Becoming something else. Craving blood. It’s been ten months since the word ‘vampire’ stopped being something from old monster stories and Hollywood movies. It’s been six months since our world and theirs erupted into war. It’s been two months since an uneasy peace was signed. It’s been one hour since that peace was shattered. The war is here again. The vampire war. Our world will burn. Our world will bleed! When anyone can turn, when every street is a battlefield, there is nowhere to run! V Wars: Blood and Fire features all new stories of the Vampire Wars by Kevin J. Anderson, Scott Sigler, Larry Corriea, Joe McKinney, Nancy Holder, Yvonne Navarro, Weston Ochse, James A. Moore, and Jonathan Maberry.

NOCTURNAL Episode #24

SFPD Chief of Police Amy Zou has taken Bryan Clauser and Pookie Chang off the case of the BoyCo occult murders — which bolsters their suspicion that Zou is part of a department-wide cover-up — but the duo refuses to let go. They found the maker of the arrowhead used to kill John Doe, and through that maker, found the man who bought the arrowhead: one Jebediah Erickson. Bryan knows Erickson is the key … all he needs is a little more time to close in.

FridayFix™ – Interview with Charlaine Harris & Toni L.P. Kelner

The anthology GAMES CREATURES PLAY is out today, April 1 — Sigler Ascension Day! To celebrate the release of this girthy tome, Scott interviews the book’s editors: Charlaine Harris and Toni L.P. Kelner.

http://media.blubrry.com/scottsigler/media.libsyn.com/scottsigler/103_FridayFix_-_Interview_with_Charlaine_Harris__Toni_L.P._Kelner.mp3

Together, this duo has edited seven anthologies. Toni is an Agatha Award-winning mystery author, and Charlaine is perhaps best known as the author of the Sookie Stackhouse series, upon which the HBO show TRUE BLOOD is based.

The trio of authors discuss the GAMES anthology, as well as the challenges involved in getting genre authors — who sometimes have animosity toward athletics and the sports culture — to combine for the great tales included in this collection. Toni and Charlaine also share some of their experiences on growing up well outside the sports culture, and coming to appreciate athletics in their own ways.

New print deal: Three books with Del Rey

Scott Sigler signed a three-book deal with Ballantine Doubleday Dell to publish ALIVE

I’ve been hinting at an announcement for a few weeks now, and this is it: new print deal. I put out five books with Crown Publishing and loved both the process and the people. Tha Shiv was an excellent editor for my work. But, time marches on and it’s time to try something new. The books discussed below are YA, and Crown doesn’t do YA, so my agent went out and wrangled a new deal.

Executive Editor Mark Tavani at Ballantine Bantam Dell bought World Rights to a science fiction trilogy by New York Times bestselling author Scott Sigler. In the first book, ALIVE, a young woman awakes trapped in a confined space with no idea who she is or how she got there. She soon frees other young adults in the room and together they find that they are surrounded by the horrifying remains of a war long past…and matched against an enemy too horrible to imagine. Further adventures will follow in two more books, ALIGHT and AWAY. The books will be published under the Del Rey imprint. The deal was made by Byrd Leavell at Waxman Leavell. For rights information, please contact Denise Cronin at dcronin@randomhouse.com.

FridayFix: The “Captain Spaulding”

The FDØ invents a fancy drinky-drink

Author Mur Lafferty has a new book out in March, called THE GHOST TRAIN TO NEW ORLEANS. It’s a sequel to her Campbell Award-winning novel THE SHAMBLING GUIDE TO NEW YORK CITY, a paranormal tale about a plucky heroine who winds up writing travel guides for the undead.

http://media.blubrry.com/scottsigler/media.libsyn.com/scottsigler/01_How_to_make_the_perfect__Captain_Spaulding_.mp3.mp3

Mur was recently on Twitter talking about a fictional drink in the book called a “Captain Spaulding.” This drink contains gin and demon blood. Blargh. She wondered how that might translate to the real world (assuming you don’t have a demon in your basement, like I do, cause I’m pimp like that, and, yes, mine wears a gimp suit). She even started a contest where you could come up with your own drink recipe for the Spaulding.

While I recuse myself from this contest, I could not let this opportunity pass me by. Hence, this FridayFix focuses on my interpretation of the Captain Spaulding. Enjoy!

This is how the other half lives, bitches.
